Liam Liam Liam O
Like I say really, there can only be 11 world class players a year or per generation in theory, as World Class is assumed to be the best. You can't have 2 world class keepers. Agree to a certain degree ...........................Casillas......................... .................Terry.......Rio...........Vidic.......... ..................Xavi................Iniesta............ Messi...................Gerrard.......................Kaka ..................Villa.......................Drogba.............. With Harry Redknapp as manager. Guest Heneage
Djibril Cisse Now its getting silly imo. Why? Add Rosina to that list also Rosina had potential, but his move to Zenit is a major step backwards.

Guest firetotheworks
Djibril Cisse Now its getting silly imo. Why? Add Rosina to that list also So as a Striker you'd put him in the same bracket as Torres, Drogba, Eto'o and Ibrahimovic?

Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Fading now, but Del Piero would still get into most starting 11s. Agreed! Rui Costa too and Figo and Nedved

Guest firetotheworks
Yaya Toure is absolute class, can't believe no one has mentioned him. I was tempted to, but I think he needs one more season at the same level to be World Class. Saw him in 2007 at the Neu Camp and he was the best player on the pitch by an absolute mile...until Messi came on.
The Prophet
Drogba wouldn't get near that list either, part of being world class is doing it on a consistant basis, same goes for Rooney.

Mr. Snrub
Good list. I'm not that keen on Eto'o, though. Not any more. Yeah, only managed the 30 goals in 36 league matches last season. How shit! And as for Rooney being world class? No chance. Doesn't perform anywhere near consistently enough to be considered world class.
Guest sicko2ndbest
Yaya Toure is absolute class, can't believe no one has mentioned him. World Class? World class. Really World Class Only kidding, if enough people want him he will go in. I was impressed with his versatility to go from midfielder to defender and be equally effective. Commanding a starting position in the Barcelona side goes a long way to warranting world class status. However, for me, he needs another season

Nah Del Piero's still playing, he was my favourite player for years a few years back, infact, I think since Beardsley stopped playing for the Toon I started to like Del Piero, maybe a few years gap. The other three I mentioned have all retired though, seems to be a gulf in class between the stars of 95-05 and 05-10 so far.

The Prophet
Juninho is getting on but is one of the best play makers on the planet. Probably the best set piece specialist knocking about too.
Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Everyones got their own perception of World Class talent, so this thread will go on forever if people have the stamina. I think the thing holding Rooney back from being truely World Class is his sulking demeanor and rage fits, but then, some people will say that's what makes him a World Class Player. The difference for me, between what makes Messi a World Class player, and Ronaldo just a great player, is that Messi looks like he loves playing football, while Ronaldo cries and moans about everything... that and Messi is actually a World Class player.
