Indeed, I don't know the situation in England/Italy, but in Spain the outlawing of terraces was a big hit. A lot of people that bought those just can't afford to buy tickets/STs at today's prices. Clubs have also figured out they end up making more money selling less seats at higher prices too.

todays financial situation kind of keeps people out of the games as well, it's not cheap to go to a game.

I`m amazed that a shithole like Napoli gets the attandence they get

wonder what Baris avarage attandence is, kez?

I've not it to hand, and my long paragraph was more applicable to seasons gone by than this, but like I say it's part of the problem, small clubs with small fanbases, lots of Wigans in the top flight doesn't help.

You just need to look at Marek Hamsik to see why they love their football. He looks batshit crazy.

"Calcio" is pretty common usage in Spain when talking about Italian footie. What is more, nobody talks about "Serie A", just "El Calcio".

What would be great is to be able to get average occupancy %. For example La Liga has quite a few clubs around or under 50%, which is a disgrace, and you'd be hard pressed to find any club over 75% of their stadium. So much plastic on display at some games! It needs a bit of number crunching and I'm not that interested though...

So why are attendances so low in Italy? Never really understood it.

I believe it has a lot to do with dilapidated old stadiums and violence.

Corruption.

Both.

Would've thought Juve would fill their relatively small stadium. Also suprising that Genoa get more through the door than Samp.

Genoa always gets more attendance than Samp, apart from when they were in second division. Juve's problem is that most of their supporters are not from Turin, so although they moved to a smaller stadium they still can't have it full or close to it. And the awful season they're having doesn't help either of course.
