Thespence
Willie McKay no doubt spinning so JB gets a contract at the rate he is on now because WHU or Villa are not going to pay them numbers.
Dokko
Barton will not get the wages he's on here anywhere else, and why its more likely for us to hear what villa have to offer, which will be a pay cut, and match it with bonuses imo. His contract runs out he'll be what 30? No way anyone is going to offer him big wages with a long contract, he might as well secure his future here doing the right thing taking a pay cut. Guest Geordiesned
This had better be bollocks. It would be sheer lunacy to offload the one player we have who has consistently delivered good balls into the box for Carroll.

9
Looks like Sidwell is going to west ham, hopefully that closes the door to barton going there, maybe opens it at villa though, be madness to sell him now hes finally started playing.
Fenham Mag
Probably around 30k i would think.

Big Geordie
I also suspect if there is any mileage in this and Ashley is trying to force him out, Barton won't stay quiet on it

Guest neesy111
Not a surprise with ashley at the club. He's cost cutting to an extent that it's an utter joke that we are trying to progress as a premier league side while trying to sell our best players. Dokko
I'd think there's something in it, there's been whispers of Barton leaving before this. The only reasoning for Barton's supposed low fee is that his wages are even greater than any of us think and they just want it gone. Got to say if that's the case it won't be long till Colo is sold in similar fashion.

Benwell Lad
Not a surprise with ashley at the club. He's cost cutting to an extent that it's an utter joke that we are trying to progress as a premier league side while trying to sell our best players. While the article is probably complete rubbish you do have to realise that players, managers and coaches come and go at every football club. We can't act like deluded idiots thinking Barton or anyone else for that matter will stay at our club for ever and having hissy fits every time theres a change, or even when the press write about a change. Our playing staff has been comparitively stable over the last couple of years and the recent midfield acquisitions of Gosling,Tiote and Ben Arfa, with no senior players leaving, would seem to refute your assertion that "he's cost cutting to an extent that it's an utter joke that we are trying to progress as a premier league side while trying to sell our best players"
LesPaul
There's no way the rejected WHU bid was less than 1.5 million surely?

Remember the last time we did that in 2009 and we ended up relegated (i.e. n'zogbia and given). We should not be looking to sell anyone apart from Smith & Best. Oh sorry, I didn't realise it was a done deal. You're obviously right then. Interesting that you seem to have been upset by N'Zogbia's departure - most of us were glad to see the back of the work shy little pompous twat.
