Who told you that, binnsy? Very unexpected tbh.

Peter Beardsley.

Not that unexpected,  he's one of the most promising youngsters we've got, was tremendous last season for the reserves and after missing the first few game of the season with injury was very good in the home reserve game against Bradford when no doubt he'd have impressed the watching Hughton.

Yeah, he was great against Bradford along with LuaLua he looked a level above the rest of our players.  I have hardly seen him play but against Bradford he seemed to love to get forward even more than the midfielders.

yes he does like to bomb forward,  with Adjei playing rubbish on the right wing Tav seemed to play right back and right wing in the Bradford game!

It's official then, he's the next Dani Alves  :shifty:

Six United Young Guns In Carling Squad

By Craig Hope

CHRIS Hughton could hand Newcastle United debuts to no fewer than six young Magpies when his side take on Peterborough United in the Carling Cup Third Round on Tuesday night.

Bradford-born full-back James Tavernier, Devonshire defender Ben Tozer, Northern Ireland Under-21 midfielder Shane Ferguson, Australian-born Brad Inman, French striker Wesley Ngo Baheng and Swedish goalkeeper Ole Soderberg are all included in the squad for the trip to London Road.None of the sextet have appeared for United's senior side, although Tozer, Baheng and Inman have all been unused substitutes.

And there could yet be full debuts for Ryan Donaldson and Haris Vuckic, both of whom have came from the bench to enjoy their senior bow this season.

The youngest of the aforementioned bunch is Slovenian Vuckic. Still just 17 years and 33 days old, the attacking midfielder has already made a big impression during his nine months on Tyneside and was on target on Saturday as the Academy side were held to a 2-2 draw at home to West Brom.

Tavernier, a front-running right-back, and Inman, a classy, ball-playing midfielder, are also both just 17 and in their second year at the club's Academy. Baheng, meanwhile, has won his place in the cup squad having raced to the top of the reserve-team scoring charts with three goals from his first two outings. The former Le Harve frontman turns 20 on Wednesday and will be hoping to celebrate his birthday with a first senior outing.

                            Krul

Tavernier  Coloccini  Tozer  Kadar

Lua Lua  Donaldson    Butt  McLoven

                          Vuckic

                          Baheng

Its a poor side and it will get beat but if any picked up an injury we'd be fine for the weekend. Lovenkrands needs the games and we have to play Coloccini at centre half. Rather risk him than Taylor.

i would definitly start barton tonight as he wouldn't be in my starting 11 for saturday and have him alongside maybe inman and behind vuckic. maybe even give him the captaincy and hope that the responsibility of guiding the youngsters wakes the fucker up.

Neil Farrington in the Journal has also touted starting Barton tonight for similar reasons. Pretty damning assessment of his displays so far this season in the write up

WTF! How can he be dropped when he used to play so well for MAN CITY?

But I doubt Hughton has the cojones tbh.
