Parachute payment ?

right then, i was talking at work the other day bout footy and stuff and it got mentioned that the parachute payment has to be paid back if the receiving club leaves the championship. ie if we get promoted we have to pay it back and also why southampton were so much in the cack as theu hasd to pay it back when they got relegated.

I think your mate has read a article about Southampton which has said they are in shit because the parachute payment stopped, bu this was because they had received there last payment.

 

As for the payback mever had anything like that.

That's the right answer.  The parachute payment is paid over 2 years and we would only get paid while we were not in the Premiership, I think it's £12m per year.

Yep, pretty sure last season I remember seeing somewhere that Birmingham had budgetted for last season based on both payments, so if they'd missed out on promotion they'd have been fucked.
