Ronaldo
Morientes and Vieri, in the last 5 years? Toni is a target man but hasn't been succcesful at club level in the 3 countries I mentioned. Iaquinta hasn't been successful at all, not quite sure i'd call him a target man either.
Guest PJ87
Never in a million years a target man and hasn't been succesful with them in the last 5 years. You don't think 21 goals in 35 games in 05-06 is a good return? Of course not, because YOU'RE RONALDO. King bullshitter of Newcastle Online. Oooohhh Look at meeeee. I'm Ronaldoooo. I'll argue black is white just so people look at me. Whoppeeeeeeee RvN wasn't successful because I SAY SO!!!! Aren't I SOOOOO different to the rest of the posters on here???!?!?!?!? Guest Stephen927
Van Nistelrooy is a target man, just not really a conventional one.
Ronaldo
Never in a million years a target man and hasn't been succesful with them in the last 5 years. So when Man Utd were constantly getting the ball out wide and whipping balls into the area ...? and when he was linking up with the midfield by holding off a defender.. that's not a target man? since when? Van Nistelrooj is an out and out poacher. Man U have never played a style to accomdate a target man, especially not in the last 5 years.

junkhead
Name me one succesful team in England, Italy or Spain in the last 5 years that uses a conventional target man please. And Drogba most certainly isn't one just because he's strong and good in the air. Drogba is exactly that. A player who uses his physical power to lead the attack. And NO, I'm not comparing him to Carroll. Anyway.. Nistelrooy, JV Hesselink, Dzeko, Pizarro, Crouch, Chamakh, Hoaroau (plays for PSG, fuck spelling) Zigic, Negredo, Kuranyi, Trezeguet, Amauri, Iaquinta, Cardozo.. Arguably not the best players in the world but if you've ever played football you'd know that having a striker who wins most headers is a useful thing. Even Arsenal don't play on the floor all the time.

Guest Stephen927
I would class van Nistelrooy as a target man. He was someone that they looked to get the ball to in every attack. Just because they weren't lumping long balls upto him, doesn't mean he isn't a target man. Ronaldo is just being funny with the use of the word conventional. Guest Heneage
I was going to say Zigic at Valencia for arguments sake. I don't know if Hoarau is used as a target man though. I guess he gets himself out of jail with the successful part, as it rules out a lot of teams. Luca Toni is one for sure,(bayern won the German league with him) and Porto used Lisandro(Portuguese league and good CL run) as a target man. Oh and of course Zlatan at Inter was a target man, against Man Utd in Cl at Old Trafford they were pumping balls at him all night.

Frazzle
Ibrahimovic has pretty much played as a target man this season. He obviously makes some runs in behind but some games he's had his back to goal for massive periods.

I reckon he will be discredited for it not being a top league, I'm curious to see how/why Zlatan won't count.

junkhead
yeah.. but feel free to remind me of that debate the next time little Pete holds off two players, stops the ball on his chest, turns around and passes the ball What on earth does that have to with his control? You know man.. I have flalwess ball control when I'm playing keepy-ups in my room. I bet most League 2 players also do. Defenders man, you know the guys that stop you from controlling the ball. I think of ball control as the way you stop the ball and dribble under pressure.
