TRon
We just don't want the players enough. Kilgallon, Beckford and now Moses were all keen at some stage but other clubs are winning the fight for the signatures because they are offering more money to either the clubs or the player. Liam Liam Liam O
http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-utd/2010/01/31/newcastle-lose-out-in-chase-for-victor-moses-79310-25723350/ Newcastle lose out in chase for Victor Moses Jan 31 2010 by Neil Farrington, Sunday Sun NEWCASTLE have lost out to Premier League opposition for Victor Moses after failing to stump up £2 million-plus for the Crystal Palace snip. Moses is set to hold talks this morning with one of two top-flight clubs who met Palaces administrators asking price of £2.5 million. Wigan are the team expected to clinch the signing of the 19-year-old striker, who was keen to join Newcastle, only for the Magpies failure to make a competitive offer to prevent him from formally discussing a move to St James Park. And United manager Chris Hughton is now pondering a loan swoop for Everton striker James Vaughan in a bid to beef up his striking options. As recently as Friday afternoon, Moses and United were hopeful of agreeing a deal to take him to Tyneside. But then the two top-flight teams entered the bidding and left Newcastle out in the cold. Moses agent Tony Finnigan told the Sunday Sun: Ive been given permission by Palaces administrators to speak to two clubs in the Premier League. I will be going with Victor to speak to one of them in the next 24 hours. That club is understood to be Wigan, with Palace manager Neil Warnock also confirming that Moses is bound for the top flight. I think its done, Victor is going to the Premier League, said Warnock. I think £2.5 million is a snip for one of the best young players weve got. Although the transfer window closes at 5pm on Monday, Newcastle have time to tie up a move for Vaughan, as loan deals are not subject to the deadline. Out of the loop Neil? gdm
Anyone reckon that performance yesterday might persuade Ashley to stump up a wee bit more. I'm certainly panicking that we won't go up and he has a lot to gain if we go up
Guest Thomo
Vital Football - claims that we made an enquiry for Dorrans at WBA because we lost out in the race for Mose's, it also says we may bid £800,000 for Ambrose
macca888
Not a hope in hjell getting Dorrans and as for Ambrose, he could be useful in the short term but that is about it.
Thespence
Fact are this: Administrators have chosen what bids to be accepted. Wrong. An administrator is not in a position to knock back a seven figure sum but he or she will seek the best price. Unlike other assets a administrator will sell off for the best price there is a human element to selling a footballer, so nothing is clear cut. Because if Moses does not want to go somewhere the administrator will have to seek best price that matches where Moses wants to go.
gdm
The point is tho he isn't gonna turn down Wigan but he dosnt have a choice to make coz we havnt bid enough. Also why were they 'considering' our bid if they can't turn it down Would love Dorrans here but no chance if that what so ever
Guest ProudToBeAGeordie
Can we not close this thread now ? It's quite obvious he is not coming here.
macca888
Spence Fair enough, but I am pretty sure Moses will help the club out by going to a club he doesnt want too because he knows the club needs the money
Nobody
Can we not close this thread now ? It's quite obvious he is not coming here. God forbid we have a thread open about a player that doesn't play for us.
Bad Mongo
Why would he want to sign for a club that is by no means guaranteed promotion and if we get it, will spend next season rooted to the foot of the table, with a points total that will probably be in Derby/sunderland territory? Not to mention our record of bringing on young players compared with Wigan's - absolute no brainer. You've clearly lost all faith in nufc. when did this happen I cant blame the lad for thinking of going to wigan but i still think we have summik to offer the lad. Well, there is one thing Wigan and just about every PL and Championship club other than Newcastle (and Pompey) have going for them: they are professionally run clubs that try to make the best of their resources, and not only because their owners want to flog the clubs at an inflated price. An ambitious young player could conceivably prefer Wigan to Newcastle simply because of that. A lazy, self-obsessed idiot looking for glamour would always prefer Newcastle, though. gdm
Arghhhhhhh lol he dosnt have that choice. It's not about Wigan v Newcastle
zolton
Hi all, as you know we (West Brom) were in for Moses as well, just have to accept that Wigan have more pulling power than you or us. He may still go to a bigger Premiership club but we have moved our attensions elsewhere!

macca888
Zoltan So, mate, how are you going to react to the news that Dorrans is leaving to join us............................apparently?
gdm
He has the choice to turn down Wigan but so far if the press is believed. Their bid is accepted our hasn't. He can turn down Wigan but the choice isn't Wigan or Newcastle coz we havnt offered enough. It's that simple. To simplify it even more. The administrators say to young Victor there is one club you can speak to....Wigan not....there are two clubs you can speak to....Wigan and Newcastle.... zolton
Zoltan So, mate, how are you going to react to the news that Dorrans is leaving to join us............................apparently? More chance of Boro getting promotion, thing is we have control of our finances, we only sell when we want!
Thespence
The point is tho he isn't gonna turn down Wigan but he dosnt have a choice to make coz we havnt bid enough. Also why were they 'considering' our bid if they can't turn it down Moses has a choice but as young lad without his parents, a agent wanting a deal & a contract with 5 figures on offer. I would be surprised if he turns it down if I am honest. They are 'considering' it because they have a duty to Palace & its creditors they did not turn it down but now higher bids have come in they automatically take priority. Jayson
Absolutely no chance of us gettings Dorrans. Should go for Ambrose as a realistic improvement on what we have now.
GuyP
A player better tahn Moses atm, though obviously wont improve as much...Georgie Boyd...i bet we'd get him for the same price in all.

Cronky
Absolutely no chance of us gettings Dorrans. Should go for Ambrose as a realistic improvement on what we have now. Ambrose wouldn't be a bad second prize. The only central midfield player who can really get forward is Nolan, and he's so slow.
