Hanshithispantz
should run an anonamous poll (if you can?) to find out the average age, it may be interesting (then again it may not...). http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,71456.0.html ah, nice one
WarrenBartonCentrePartin
they're just fucking bitter that the city gets more recognition on a whole, and is the major hub that people go to/think of when the North-East is mentioned, and that recognition includes the football team, their rivals. I know plenty of mackems who study/have studied in Newcastle, work in Newcastle, live in and around Newcastle and socialise in Newcastle, rather than sunderland. Our city has far more to offer, especially after money has been pumped in in the last 20 or so years to regenerate certain areas. They're just bitter that there is fuck all worthwhile in their shitty little cesspit of a town, where little money has been spent on regeneration, and they can live up to the fact that this probably won't change under the coalition government. Something which is entirely down to them and their inability to look past a majority Labour council and not, as many Mackems believe, that a "Geordie Mafia" is trying to do them out of everything. They were offered the Sage, the council turned it down. The Arc fiasco should have been sorted a decade ago and apparently there are serious questions over the viability of the new bridge, or at least the design. David Icke - Son of God
err wasn't most of newcastles regeneration under a majority labour council ? I'm not slagging off Labour as a whole, I'm a bloody Labour supporter, but residents have allowed councillors in Sunderland to become massively complacent. I like it because it sounds okay for eating fish and chips, putting a bet on or going along in a motability scooter,”
Guest Tall Striker
Not really. Given the atmosphere and the local pride factor, it's always the biggest game for us, certainly in terms of the Premier League. bigger games have been when we played man utd when going for the title. the chelsea game also when we needed to win to get into europe. yes the atmosphere is better v the mackems but theres more to it that that. The Chelsea game? To get into the intertoto? What a load of nonsense.

Anderson
FTM - does it generally mean Fuck the Mags or Follow the Mackems? Believe it's the first but sure I've seen the second meaning given before. If it is the first, fucking obsessed doesn't even begin to describe them the amount I see it used on places like Facebook. Guest BooBoo
They were frequently writing to Tyneside schools when the new stadium opened offering all the kids the opportunity to go to the SoS for nowt. Someone I know wrote a strong letter of complaint to his sons school after the school sent a letter asking whether the lad wanted one of the free tickets! Tbf, I think all football clubs should be forced by the league to give disadvantaged children from lower income families discouted or reduced tickets. Guest BooBoo
Jesus wept. Mackems are obsessed with the whole FTM which has been about for years. The sad mackem bastard thing is much more recent and generally tossed about in jest, as opposed to a slogan many mackems genuinely tattoo on themselves.
