Village Idiot
Spanish press quoting €7m for Perotti. That's ridiculously cheap given where his stock was one year ago, and not sure Sevilla would let him go for such a low price given how have they bargained for their players in the past. Perotti's individual technique is excellent and is a good crosser of the ball. He only needs to learn to play more intelligently to become a fearsome winger. Punk77
I'd take Cisse for £5M. Nothing more. No thanks. He's thirty this year. If he doesn't deliver, we will never regain the money we paid for him. Perotti on the other hand would be great. We probably have an advantage too because he's from Argentina. Guest icemanblue
The Bad News: Looks like we're a cert to be signing Carlton Cole if the hammers go down. For ten mil http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2011/02/20/2360473/newcastle-weigh-up-10m-summer-bid-for-west-ham-striker Or, we may be bringing in Odemwingie. http://www.caughtoffside.com/2011/02/20/newcastle-united-keen-on-6m-rated-west-bromwich-albion-striker/ Now for some good news: Two very large potential youngsters may be arriving: http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2011/02/19/2359607/newcastle-united-chase-sevilla-midfielder-diego-perotti-and Here's the bad news: Those sites are bollocks. Wallace
Carlton Cole signing would contradict everything Ashley has said before. He is not so young anymore, there will be little resale value and he is a crock who has failed medicals in the past (though recently we seem to be happy to take a chance on crocks). Barnes23
Wolves striker Kevin Doyle is set to be the number one target to replace Andy Carroll for Newcastle this summer. Alternatively, Albion striker Peter Odemwingie could be the subject of a bid from Newcastle if their move for Doyle fails. Flip
Doyle is going to be 28 this year ffs.
AyeDubbleYoo
Doyle is good but doesn't score enough goals. I would see him as a partner for Carroll rather than a replacement. Also, this is just press linking anyone from a club likely to go down, it's nonsense.
nobby_solano
it's probably all bollocks but that's a set of underwhelming strikers. surely we'd need to sign someone who could score goals, not someone who hadn't been scoring goals and caused their team to be relegated as such
Ronaldo
It was only a year ago that City were being linked with Perotti for £40m. Carlton Cole wouldn't be that bad of a signing for £10m, like. He's got a fair bit of talent, just hasn't been using it this past year or so.

Taylor Swift
Doyle is fucking shite. Even worse than Carlton Cole. We're done for 3 years if we sign either of them to be a main striker.
Guest EastEndGeordie
Doyle is f***ing s****. Even worse than Carlton Cole. We're done for 3 years if we sign either of them to be a main striker. TBH I honestly don't think we'll sign them as they have no re-sale value for Ashley. It'll most probably be a young striker no-ones heard of or one of our own lads.

Guest
Doyle would work alongside a goalscorer imo. (Cisse!) Reckon you'd get 25 goals between the pair.

Guest magpie99
If you look at our squad, it might be a bit thin but having played something like 4 games between them, you could almost suggest Gosling and HBA are like new signings next season. Also, add in Steven Taylor due to his lack of outings this season. I like the look of Hooper of Celtic and wanted us to sign him from Scunthorpe 12 months ago. He is quick and has an eye for goal and whilst most on here will point out its only the SPL, he looks to me like a natural born goalscorer who will get 15 goals a season, even in the PL. I dont really think we need Forster so offer Celtic 2.5 million plus Forster and with them currently heavily in debt, they would probably snap our hands off. I also like the look of the left back at Celtic and if Jose was to go, he could be a good replacement and is only 22. Many would disagree with this but I would get SWP for the right wing, even though he wouldnt be cheap but his pace would be valuable to us. I doubt he would cost more than 5 million now. Throw in Elmander on a free and there is less about 10 million on transfers spent. Offer Rangers Smith to get him off our books and a couple of decent youngsters and we have a bloody good squad next year. In: Elmander, Hooper, SWP, Inguirie, and a couple of decent young signings plus we have HBA and Gosling fit again. Out: Forster, Smith and Routledge
