Nothing would make me happier than having a player already in newcastle sorting out the CM.

Im grateful what what Nolan do and have done, but I also have the feeling that while he is contributing with goals, he is at the same time limiting the overall capability and potential of the team. To me Nolan is the swansong of the old team, the team who got us promoted but also the very image of where we need to improve,  a new paradigm and a new age cannot come before Nolan is on the bench imo.

I think the players we have returning, Ben Arfa and Gosling, along with the possible debut of Ireland, will have a big impact on whether we sign an attacking midfielder.

I agree with Flatline about Nolan's limitations, and it would be great to have a more dynamic player in that position, but I get the feeling we think we might already have enough options there.

The obvious flaw in his comments being nobody at all is saying Nolan is without limitations. This entire discussion revolves around the very simple fact that when it comes to signing players this summer the replacement of Nolan doesnt even rank in the top 2/3 urgent issues. Its baffling that he cant see this yet choses to repeat rubbish that i havent even said.

Strikers and LB issues arent even up for discussion mate, they are happening, so why bother discussing it. Ashley knows it, Pardew knows it, hell, even the hot dog vendor outside st.james knows it. Why are you pointing it out like as if you are inventing the wheel? Everyone know those issues will be adressed.

Regarding the LB, if Enrique stays or leaves, it wont make us a better team or play any differently.  We get a replacement, same or inferior quality, point is?

We need a new engine in the midfield, aside from the obvious replacements following an enrique and carroll sale, which are, as I said, self-explanatory.

Wow, I agree with you both.

That must mean you agree with each other really!

That would be true in theory however as my stance from the first post was where our priority lies as opposed to what we should do if money was no object then we dont agree at all really, now if he had of read this at the start it would have been nice. The respective talents/limitations of Kevin Nolan were never part of my reasoning here.

Because you dont know it?

I think we just disagree on the issue. I cant think of a bigger one than being overrun in the middle.  It shapes the games ( we lose).

You seem to think we have other issues who needs adressing first. I dont. End of.

To be honest, from someone who thinks the best form of defence is attack I think you're both right in equal measures, we need both a striker and an attacking midfielder. Flatline is absolutely spot on about his remarks reagrding Nolan, however an attacking midfielders success is usually related to what he has in front of him. At the momnt we have no genuine focal point, nor do we have much insipred movement which is obviously where a new striker comes into play.

For me, if we keep Nolan in the team, you may get 10 goals next season but you'll really affect the balance of the game due to his lack of mobility, or his lack of incivisness.

Used this analogy earlier, but its like comparing the qualities of Owen to the qualities of Bellamy.

For me there both equally imporatant acquisitions.

I haven`t said they werent issues. They just aint the biggest ones.  We need to change the way we play our games, and thats even more clear now that we dont have a carroll to take the odd hoofball and make a goal out of it.  The crux of the matter is that while your views are valid, they ARE being adressed, its simply a matter of which names on the back of the shirt ( which in itself is an issue but a different one).

My point of view is unlikely to be adressed at all, we will probably start Nolan as our captain come august and that in my opinion is a problem because no striker or LB in the world will be able to alter the outcome of the midfield clash to come, just the way they handle the incoming balls as a direct result of our midfield being overrun ( again).

Ive never disagreed with you Roger, aside from the fact that the personal attacks are a bit insulting and annoying, I agree with you.

Its just that even with a new LB and a new strikeforce, we will have a rotten trunk seeing as they will NOT get any balls through the middle unless Tiote goes forward ( which I rather not want him to do if it can be helped). They will again be either served by jonas when he gets tired of serving banners, spectators and cornerflags,  or they get ( admitted: good) balls from barton.  I think this is a clear weakness relating to our CM, the fact that we have no drive through the middle, but are reduced to the flanks in 90% of all our attacks. its rather predictable..

So everyone who disagrees with you over this is wrong?

No, its a point of view.  You might think Nolan should be part of our future ideal Midfield, and I would disagree strongly with you. It doesnt mean you ARE wrong, it just means I think you are.

what objectively is wrong and right, only god knows ( im an atheist but just for the sake of arguement)

FWIW I think our central midfield has been our biggest problem for years. Being a defender at NUFC over the last decade has been a bit like fighting in the front line at Rorke's Drift.

Look how much we improved when Tiote came in, he solved a problem we'd had for many years. If we could get someone as athletic and mobile alongside him it would improve the team massively.

Whether it's a priority at the moment or not I've no idea, and I don't know to what extent the injured trinity might help either, but it would definitely be an improvement to the team's overall play.

Agreed. We have sent the defenders to the slaughter many times, but we tend to forget how little support they've gotten from our midfield. The game away against Bolton illustrated this. Bolton met no opposition from Smith and Guthrie, leaving WilliColo open for repeated beating.

Personal attacks because YOU used my name to mock my opinion to somebody but lets not use facts eh.......

Can i just say once more to make sure you will listen: I never said i WANT Nolan in our team, i am saying he WILL be regardless of what we do/say, as it happens i fully agree with our manager(therefore disagree with you) that by far and away the biggest issue is a new striker followed by possible LB, winger, backup to Tiote etc. Strangely when we had a good striker we played well as a team, its since Carroll got injured/sold we have struggled to pick up wins. Perhaps if you read any of what i actually posted you wouldnt have made any mistake about my thoughts on this.

I served one remark after repeated beatings but lets not get hung up on facts huh.. :kinnear:

By your reasoning there is no use in posting on a forum at all, since Pardew is in charge anyway. So following that logic we shouldn`t even bother having a discussion.

tottenhams strikers are no better than ours tbh, they might be bigger names but they perform for s***. tottenham still pull of wins because their midfield ( and, granted, defense) win their games for them.

If we can sort our midfield out we might be a different team altogether next season, but I guess you are right in the sense that Nolan will start no matter what.

I used to blame our defenders, as of late Ive started to suspect that our erratic form is due to lack of control of the midfield/support from midfielders...

Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini says in-demand playmaker Javier Pastore has decided to stay at the club next season.

Pastore is coveted by many of Europe's leading clubs, and reports recently claimed that Manchester United were spearheading the chase for the Argentina international.

Zamparini also revealed that he was considering a €50million (£43m) offer for Pastore from an unnamed club, which he has subsequently turned down.

Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester Cityare other teams to have been linked with bids for Pastore, but Zamparini does not expect to lose the player in the summer.

Intelligent

"Pastore wants to remain at Palermo," Zamparini said to Gazzetta dello Sport. "He is a very intelligent man, who wants to improve.

"He has decided to remain with us for another year."

Pastore has also attracted the attentions of Serie A clubs Napoli and Roma, who are both keen to sign the 21-year-old, who joined Palermo in 2009 from Huracan.

"I have already turned down a 50million euro offer for Pastore," Zamparini said. "Even if Chelsea were to make an offer this year, he would not move.

"Barcelona already made an offer and I said to them that this year he would not leave."

Pastore is Palermo's top scorer with 10 league goals in 30 appearances so far this season and is under contract with the Serie A club until June 2014.

Must have been us.

I thought you had £60m to spend? Definitely saw it somewhere on here. And if we round up, you near enough have £100m. That's near enough 3 Javier Pastores, give or take £29m.

Apparently Ashley wants to build a casino next to SJP. That casino will house a super duper death ray gun which will point at any stadium not willing to give us 3 pts. Muhahahahaha!

Thats as far of your lies as i got to be honest, its amazing where you find this from actually as its certainly not what i am saying at all. You posting stupid gifs and taking the piss started it as you well know and as for you daft conclusion about not having discussion.............you arent worth further response, it hurts lowering myself to your level quite frankly and no doubt i will get banned for replying to whatever figment of your imagination you see next, somebody else can wade through your guff.

Most of your replies are quite patronizing, no room for discussion whatsoever. I give up trying to have a civilized discussion with you,  cba reasoning with utter coc.ks.

This is a forum of fellow fans, who might disagree on several issues but at least try to see what the other side has to say.

Im a peaceful man at heart but with your frankly rude and adolescent forum replies I just cant be bothered to argue anymore.

You have your absolute opinions and facts and whoever disagrees is a retard and should go die in a fire appearently. How do you reason with such a man?

Answer: you dont, you ignore him.

I hope you have a more pleasant demeanor outside of this forum mate,  if not I pity you and the few friends you have.
