Southampton are obviously the most recent of the current Championship clubs to reach the FA Cup semi finals. Of the rest, can you name the following? 1. The two clubs that have never made it? 2. The other club that hasn’t done it since the Second World War started? 3. The other club that hasn’t done it since the Korean War started? 4. The two other clubs that haven’t done it since we won the World Cup? Since I was born in 1973, the other 18 current Championship clubs have all made at least the semi-final. Oxford United have never been to a semi I'd imagine. Oxford University have won it though

Preston NE is the only one I can think of (64) (I think PNE is the only one for the last one, given that the list adds up to 25 clubs )

All correct except Swansea City who as Swansea Town actually lost to PNE in ‘64. I was including Southampton as one of the 18 clubs - starting that count from the start of the quiz

It’s funny how semis and finals stick in the mind, but I’ve absolutely no clue re QFs. I’m guessing it’s because there’s fewer teams + the neutral venue element. Feels like a lifetime since NUFC were last there tbh.

It used to be so different - one of my favourite books as a small kid was “We Won The Cup” which IIRC came out around 1981.

I think the lack of neutral venues makes it all blend into one a bit, also the fact its became a bit more of a closed shop and it doesn't really stand out as being a rare televised game anymore. Chelsea Leeds would have been great this year at Villa park or somewhere similar.

Same with the European Cup tbh - I can list every European Cup Final from 56 to about 2006 without any effort - but if you ask me who was in the final last season I’d have to work hard to remember

We didn’t have tickets for the replay so we were going down the road to watch it at a family friend’s house, but for some reason we were delayed. I remember hearing a huge cheer from the houses round us as we ran down the street. That was us winning the early penalty.

enthusiast Posted Monday at 10:43 Share Posted Monday at 10:43 There's no controversy whatsoever about Amsterdam being the capital of the Netherlands, just confusion - on top of at least two hundred years of being recognized as the capital, it is written into the constitution as part of the country's basic law. It just isn't the seat of government.

Yorkie Posted Monday at 17:04 Share Posted Monday at 17:04 Only six Newcastle players have ever worn a squad number of at least 40 across consecutive seasons. Can you name them? For instance, Tim Krul is not an answer. He wore 40 in 06/07 but changed to 26 and then 1 across future seasons. Clues, in order of when they first appeared for NUFC: Spoiler CF LM RB CF GK CM
