Milner also played with David Batty at Leeds, who’s a couple of years older than Shearer, in case that offers any routes

edit:

though Leeds were second division his first few years

Aye I thought him. Originally I'd put Watson as a go-between for Burridge & Shearer but seen Shearer & Burridge played together at Southampton so Shearer linked 2026 with 1971 which is a decent chunk.

Nice trivia for the Burridge & Armfield link. Their last game together was in May 1971 v Man Utd. Their last top flight game until they came up with us. Blackpool's scorer in a 1-1 draw.

Tony Green.

When we went down in 2016, we scored 5 and 6 in two home games (5-1 Tottenham, 6-2 Norwich). That's got to be rare for a relegated side? Any others in PL era scored 5+ two or more times and gone down.

I believe we stand alone there.

Based on a quick Wiki while procrastinating the closest I can see are Blackpool (scored four twice, went down with the most goals for a relegated team with 55) and the smogbeasts in 96-97, who scored six in one game and four in another two.

Boro was going to be the one I looked at.

Ipswich put 5 past Sunderland in 2001/02 iirc. Because I remember being amazed at school when I heard the "5 past Sorensen" time joke for the very first time.

Were you too young for 5 past Schmeichel in 1996? Or just fortunate to not go to school with or live near a load of glory hunting cunts

I was 6 when that happened. I was still supporting Arsenal then iirc

Did you have ManU fans at school in Newcastle? I didn't that I'm aware of (born 89) - there was one Man City fan (felt sorry for him...).

I grew up and went to school near/in Washington, was probably 45% us, 45% mackems, 8% Man U then the odd Arsenal and bindippers fan. Few weird cunts at comp who seemed to support both Man U and the mackems depending on which way the wind was blowing and if either had just beaten us.

Only other clubs I can recall lads supporting is if they'd moved from elsewhere.

55% of your schoolmates were raised by terrible parents, especially the Mackem/Man Utd hybrids, wtf is going on there?!

Strongly suspect a sad mackem bastard logic of Man U were the only team that could stop us, therefore they must also be supported. They peaked on my street the week Man U beat us in the cup final then won the European Cup, fucking pack of cunts the lot of them.

Never sure which way to swing on the parenting though. My old man was/is a dickhead, and he's also a sad mackem bastard. So while he'd never win a nurturing kids award I am always grateful that he never took me to Joker Park or I could have been one of them awful cunts.

Based on a Reddit list, so usual caveats.

Southampton are obviously the most recent of the current Championship clubs to reach the FA Cup semi finals. Of the rest, can you name the following?

1. The two clubs that have never made it?

2. The other club that hasn’t done it since the Second World War started?

3. The other club that hasn’t done it since the Korean War started?

4. The two other clubs that haven’t done it since we won the World Cup?

Since I was born in 1973, the other 18 current Championship clubs have all made at least the semi-final.
