The worst players in recent club history

Luque is one of these players that fans on the internet seem to gravitate towards. He was blatantly shit and offered nothing apart from an awful attitude, yet some will still contest that is somehow the club's fault and he was actually a wasted genius.

Mental isnt it? Folk go on the same silly way with Xisco.

No they don't.

At least, if they do then they are doing so wrongly.

Both players were on big money yet were ignored by a collection of managers (not talking about a single manager with a personal grudge) due to their lack of ability and poor attitude.

Lovenkrands scored 15 goals last year didn't he? Vital to us going up - you can't say him. In terms of players who've really 'damaged' us or the way we've played - the likes of him and Pancrate really don't deserve anything like a mention. Even Fabrice, though clearly very limited, but in a handful of reasonable shifts and even notched a goal.

I can't really remember any really shocking goalies cos we've been blessed with Given and Harper for so long. I guess it'd have to be Karelse.

Can look no further than Babayaro and Ramage for full-backs. Both absolutely hopeless defenders. Carr comes pretty close. Centre-back, step-up Jean-Alain Boumsong. Bramble at his worst was shite but he was good for us on far too many occassions to be considered in a list such as this. Huntington was an absolute mess of a centre-half, though.

Faye, Pattison, Smith and Butt need to be in there. As far as forwards go, up until the turn of the year, Best would be the name on everyone's lips, but has since recovered. You're going as far back as the likes of Dalglish and Robinson till you find a striker who's been (conversely) more hapless than this season's Lovenkrands.

Xisco and Luque are not of the same. Luque was proven in the CL to an extent whereas Xisco had only ever done well in the Spanish Segunda.

We were completely mugged into buying Luque, as he was on the downward spiral at the time but atleast he had some kind of pedigree.

They arrived in different circumstances but their application and attitude at NUFC were both similarly awful.

Well yeah, I agree. That interview with Luque after he left summed up what kind of character he was.

Luque was certainly not lacking in ability.

In regards to his attitude attitude, I would question the extent to which the club were responsible.

Luque was class v Man United before his injury. Should have scored after flicking the ball over Ferdinand.
