NG32
That land with Science City being built will go further up in value and it's a prime location. I think he bought the existing building...its currently being worked on now. This is being turned into a hotel but has nowt to do with NUFC iirc. So Ashley will build another hotel right next to an existing one ? Seems daft.

That would make sense, it has to be something that is now being worked on because £126m has already been borrowed to finance the construction. If we increase the number of 4*/5* bedrooms within an x-mile radius of the stadium, doesn't that make us eligible to host a major final? quayside
Looking at the previous years accounts the MGM project was a joint venture between the club and MGM and the club bought out MGM's share of the venture in January 2008.
NG32
The only buildings ging up next to sjp right now are the science city ones and Newcastle university business studies building, also the gutting and remodeling of the old breweries building which is pretty much on SJPs door step. UV
Looking at the previous years accounts the MGM project was a joint venture between the club and MGM and the club bought out MGM's share of the venture in January 2008. They had to, it was part of the deal done back in 2004. If the casino legislation didn't go through the club would refund them the money they put in. Are you sure that £126m has been borrowed, and it's not just a facility which was agreed many years ago which is still in place? I very much doubt anything is actually happening now or we'd have heard about it. EDIT: No, wait - Ashley, Llambias, Pardew, CASINOS!!! It's all coming together - Ashley's running down NUFC as a football club so he can turn [email protected] into a massive Las Vegas style footy stadium themed casino!!!1!!
quayside
Extract from the MASH accounts: "£126 million of the loans due in one year relate to a development overdraft facility used to finance the construction of the hotel next to the stadium in Newcastle. The facility agreement includes an option for the Group, once the development, has been completed, to convert the overdraft facility to an 18 year term loan. The directors intend to exercise that option such that this amount will actually be payable over 18 years, not within one year " If it was just a facility the money would not be a loan. Mike Ashley owns the land the Strawberry car park is built on? Hanro own the land around the strawberry, as well as the pub itself, unless they've sold it in the past few months. the metro carpark is owned by either the council or nexus, though i have seen references to nufc either buying it or having some sort of option to develop it. magorific
Should we be concerned that the extra £13m Ashley has loaned the club in advance of players being sold might be repaid from the £35m received for Carroll?

To be fair it'll all be repaid at some point.
