Could argue that us only having 3 new signings compared to their 8 will work in our favour since we'd be more settled as a team. ;)

Pardew's recent comments have angered a lot of fans and rightly so but surely it was best for him to come and tell us about N'zogbia rather than drag this on the whole summer with false hope. His comments about Enrique have kept us in the light as to what the situation is, along with our transfer target Erding. None of these have been particularly positive but he remains adamant that another striker will be brought in and hopefully another player on top. It's only mid July so it's not time to kick up too much of a big fuss over Charlie and start hitting panic buttons over one player, but we can still remain positive that we will sign one or two more players to improve our current very solid starting 11 and increase our squad quality. September 1st will truly be the day we know if we have been messed about all along or if we were in fact too quick to criticise the current regime’s summer transfer dealings....not July 14th.

Start of the season, 3 game Inc the mackems not matter to you then?

If we sign Long and Erding on Aug 31st and they combine 15 plus goals each and we finish top 10 with mackems falling well short and the we stuff them at SJP not really. Our current squad is still capable of getting a result at their ground.

EDIT: If you think our current squad couldn't cope with the first 3 games of the season you must have us down as a nope hope for next season.

Why wait till August 31st when we can sign them or decent targets now. We've had since january to plan this tbf, and you can gurantee anyone thatt comes in august 31st will be a panicbuy, plain and simple.

We still need a fucking striker. If Enrique goes, we'll need a fucking left back. Simple as that.

I love bullshit free posts like this. No messing about, straight to the bullseye with a single arrow.

What's Pardoo done, like?

Said we are not in for Zoggy.

Ah, so that's why the NUFC hashtag has went into meltdown on Twitter

I can't believe people are genuinely upset that we didn't sign another left winger, especially one who we know to be a bit of a worky ticket and very inconsistant.

There are really several truths that people seem unwilling to comprehend:

1) There is a limit to the number of players allowed in the squad. We are close to that limit, the inevitable new striker will be the last before we fill up.

2) The board will not sanction high earners being ineligible to play for us in the league. Therefore we soon have to sell to buy, and the final player is worth waiting for.

3) Interest in players outside of the 25 is low. If we don't want them, why should someone else? Those who might leave are on low wages, leaving a vacancy for a similar squad replacement.

4) We are trying to sign a striker.

5) We signed what the football experts at the club see as a suitable alternative to Charles N'Zogbia

6) Players always cost much more than the quoted wage and transfer fee, for example loyalty payments, plus of course signing on fees and agents fees.

7) The Carroll money does not count with regard to the new UEFA entry rules. Spend all the Carroll money at once, then expecting more in future windows and we can seriously jeopardise our prospects of getting into Europe in the future.

8) We aren't that bad and have already improved the side.

Most of this post is good stuff but the highlighted point is bollocks IMO. Steady building is great, but it's been made quite clear that we can't do that without all of our best players being picked away at season after season. If we've come into a lot of money that we can invest in and improve the squad with now, we should do it now, it could be the difference between a finish that makes our players want to stay or go.
