Guest pont-toon
Lyons president basically confirming the stalemate - player want to leave & nufc have offered half of what Lyon paid Porto which isnt enough for Lyon http://www.footmercato.net/europa-league/ol-bernard-lacombe-et-le-probleme-aly-cissokho_71969

Guest ObiChrisKenobi
Not sure if mentioned, but the Lyon president has confirmed we've made a bid on RMC radio. http://www.sport.fr/football/ligue-1-cissokho-pose-pas-mal-de-problemes-l-ol-230385.shtm "Currently, Aly Cissokho is causing us a lot of problems because every day he's coming to us asking to leave" said President Aulas' advisor on RMC, a request which "Les Gones" aren't yet ready to give in to, particularly since an offer made by Newcastle is a long way from meeting the asking price...."That would be annoying if he left a few days before the window closed, after Newcastle had made an offer. But the problem is Newcastle have offered half of what we originally paid for him. If this remains the case. Aly will stay with us", said Lacombe. The good old Ben Arfa tactic! Guest
€15m, so ties in with us bidding about €8m, if it's for the sake of going to €10m I wish to fuck we'd just do it.
powellnufc
That still around 7m Euros, which sounds like a decent offer

henke
It's good to hear we have actually made a firm offer. I was under the impression we'd just bullshitted our interest to the press. Lets just up the offer and get the lad in.
taxfree
That still around 7m Euros, which sounds like a decent offer Yes, but not when we're desperate, and they not need to sell.
Guest
If we get Pieters for €7m and the reason we're genuinely not going higher is because we'll get him, although a bit frustrating I could accept. But if we end up with neither and it's because we won't go that extra couple of million, then that is beyond belief even by this lot's standards. midds
Once again our offer is just below what you could realistically do a deal at. "Well, at least we tried..." Sometimes you've got to pay the price.

It's almost like that bloke with the curly hair that used to play for Hamburg, Liverpool and some team or other wasn't telling porkies when he accused Ashley and Llambias of deliberately bidding low for players safe in the knowledge that the bids won't be entertained. Got no problem with going in fairly low to see how they react then going back in with a more realistic bid. We're just going in deliberately low and leaving it at that. Someone else said you can only afford to play hardball when you're in a position of strength. Our lack of flexibility and compromise is canny vexing. Or possibly €7m or whatever is what we've got arranged with PSV for Pieters, so we tried our luck at Cissokho for around the same, weren't successful, so will settle on Pieters?
