Rangers Newco

I'm also struggling to see how this will all work out in time for the new season. Rangers will be in the draw for the league fixtures getting released on Monday. If they do have to go to Division 3, all the fixtures have to be shuffled around, and won't that mean a club from every tier moves up a league to facilitate the extra team in the 3rd Division? Also none of Rangers' staff or players have to move to the newco, so they can literally just walk away, which I would imagine most would if they are in the third tier, so then what? Can they build an entire new team in time for kick off?

I also think FIFA needs to make the rules and consequences clearer too, crazy that clubs should have to vote.

This is true, because the SPL clubs have a dilemma at the moment. Financially they could be harming themselves by voting against Rangers but then they will be upsetting their fans. If UEFA or FIFA had some kind of ruling that any NewCo would at very least have to start in the lowest pro league then the onus will be taken away from member clubs and FA's.

Is it too simplistic to think it'll be ridiculous for them to be allowed back as a Newco in the SPL? Could just encourage more big clubs to gamble and spend more than the club makes to win leagues, get CL football, etc...and if it fails they can just think, "Ah well, nevermind, we can just come back as FC Leeds and be reinstated anyway". Probably not as clear cut as that mind.

It's a joke, and the fact that they can just transfer the likes of Ibrox over to the newco makes it even more laughable. Rangers could be playing at Ibrox in the SPL next season debt free. What kind of standard is that to set?

Celtic should buy Messi with the money for the next 100 years season tickets money

But under European football rules, the newco will not be allowed to play in continental competition for three seasons, and its future in the top flight of the Scottish game is also in doubt.

Scottish Premier League regulations state that any transfer of a club’s share from one company to another must be approved by at least eight of its 12 members.

Rangers will vote for their continued existence in the SPL, but officials at several other clubs have already stated their opposition.

There is also growing discontent among supporters of other clubs, who want a newco Rangers to be told to apply for membership of the Scottish Football League, where, if admitted, it would have to start off in Division Three.

An SPL general meeting must be called to vote on the issue, and there is a 14-day notice period.

Well... I know which club I'll be managing in Football Manager this year...

Think I'll sign Peter Lovenkrands as Player/Assistant Manager/Coach/Tealady

Sorry if addressed but.

I think Celtic are actually pretty widely expected to vote in favour of rangers.

There but for the grace of God and all that.

I'd love to see them BOTH go tits up. As Shakespeare said in Romeo and Juliet  - "A Plague On BOTH their Houses" (Been amused to see this quote used several times by different people on this subject. It was MADE to describe Celtic and Rangers ! :iamatwat:)

Besides which, they'd be cutting their OWN throat, and they're not that stupid.

Who set up the EBT scheme for Rangers and the Murray Group?

A former lawyer who advised companies on tax strategy known as Paul Baxendale-Walker. He was struck off the roll of solicitors by a disciplinary tribunal in 2007. Mr Baxendale-Walker is the author of two books on EBT tax strategies and advised Rangers on how to set the scheme up and operate it.

He subsequently became involved in the porn industry, producing, directing and acting in films under the name Paul Chaplin.

I can now see how and why Rangers cunning plan to cheat their way to the top has gone slightly wrong.

I hope we go down to the 3rd division and start again. f*** the Spl, all they would do, again, is change their rules to f*** Rangers over yet again. The rest of the clubs can go f*** themselves aswell, quick enough to put the boot in but of push came to shove and they need the money you can bet that they'll vote in a newco. Who cares what clubs with big mouthed chairmen and fan groups like Aberdeen and Dundee united say? They are s*** teams living off past glory and even without a Rangers in the league still don't have a hope in hell of challenging Celtic for the league title, all they can hope for is a lucky cup run.

Lash out at everybody else all you want but if you'd paid your debts none of this would be happening.

The sort of rhetoric above is fairly typical of most Rangers fans at the moment and resembles the sort of behaviour usually exhibited by abusive husbands when their battered wives leave them.  Blame everybody else, you can't live without me, blah blah fucking blah.

bit melodramatic. i think most fans, especially those of major clubs are under the impression that the media and authorities have it in for them when in fact the truth is usually that they get their backsides licked by the media and have the authorities bending over backwards to help them.

Sad to see, while he has came out of this whole mess pretty well his resignation will hardly help the new club convincing the players to stay on.

You really can't blame him.

Not at all but he was the only one holding the playing staff together, theres going to be a mass exodus this weekend. Makes you wonder why West Ham brought in Jussi this week, surely McGregor could have been a better option? Not sure many other players will end up anywhere other than upper Championship teams.

Ally going could mean that theres no hope of them staying in the SPL, certainly wouldnt envy anyone having to completely start again in the 3rd.

Surely he loses his job anyway if his company is liquidated? Think the players would instantly become free agents as well.

The new bloke wanted them all to just transfer over and carry on as before but yeah they would become free agents like you say.

Really? I thought everyone believed the SPL would vote them straight back in, is McCoist so vital to that?

Sorry didnt mean he was in anyway vital to that happening, more that he must have a very good reason to quit such as the relegation scenario. Been on radio since by a few friends of his that he would never walk away without a massive reason. Been mentioned the rest of the SPL want to wrestle as much power away from the Old Firm as they can using this situation as leverage.
