Mick
I never said you were lying, I was responding to Wullie and TRon. Dave brought you up and I thought their posts were yours because of that. I'm not bothered if you thought that I was.

colinmk
I wish we had a manager who actually sounded like he was confident before games. Hughton was a fucker for it (Scunthorpe away: "our plan was to come here and do well" and saying "another difficult game" before basically every Championship fixture) and Pardew does it as well, fucking celebrating a point away at West Brom and being delighted at edging past some of the mid-table/relegation fodder at home by the thinnest of margins. He even said Stoke and Bolton at home would be really really tricky when we were on that immense run last year. I'm sure he's said in the past we're a big club and should be looking to win every game; this season there's been so many times we've been set up to draw or keep it tight that it's just not funny. I think Hughton was being respectful rather than being fearful, and ultimately it worked. Yep understandable given the position we were in too. Stuy_O
It's worth going over to .com and reading the WBA match report. Superbly written in regards to the slack the fans have cut Pardew.

merlin
Being poor at your job for a year is a long time in any profession, some may argue it's been longer. That's the bottom line of it really. I know he's had problems with injuries etc, but you can still perform well at your job in difficulties circumstances and I don't think you can say he has. In fact he has only made matters worse. If he can only produce results when it's all sunshine and roses then I don't think that's good enough. He's had quite a few years of being 'poor at his job' whilst with previous clubs...didn't Ashley and Dracula notice that by any chance...? Some don't care about his previous managerial record and say we can only judge him on what he does here In that case, SOME would employ Ronnie Biggs to be keeper of the Crown Jewels...! maze
http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-seem-happy-just-2996025 thought this was a good read. More a repetition of what's been a problem for, God knows, how many years. It's depressing to read, really. If you want to be a force in the top 5 EPL you need to be rich rich rich!, based in London.. or, as Newcastle were last year, so fucking lucky that it's ridiculous.... Taylor Swift
As many mistakes as he's made this season, I still feel our pitiful summer really handcuffed him. Even though I've said that I want him gone ASAP, I wouldn't mind giving him one more season, just because his relationship with the board is good and he's got them spending some money. For once, I'm actually not worried about us buying has-beens and overrated British players. Finally, we seem to have a proper scouting system and seem to be spending money on good players. That is something that Pardew deserves some credit for. I'm scared that if we bring in a Frenchy, that he won't get along well with Llambias, then we'll have loads of other problems. Pardew's not great tactically, although I feel some on here overstate how bad he is. His relationship with the players is however quite good. He speaks too much for my liking but that's a personality thing - some people just don't know when to shut up, they don't like the silence - so I haven't paid too much attention to his words. He doesn't look like he's good under pressure so our bad start really snowballed on him. Maybe if we were safer, he wouldn't have to be so conservative. All in all, I'm still not sure I completely want him gone. I don't think he's good enough now but managers can change and grow with players. He's had one really good season and one really bad season. One more season wouldn't be something that I'd be completely against.
