Dave
As I said before, if he wants to come here it's a double-edged sword. Means we're in pole position but also that we'll wait until the last minute and try to get a cheaper deal. Like Debuchy in the summer.
toontownman
Isn't he cup tied in Europe anyway? or have UEFA relaxed the laws? Champions league is great and all but not if he can't play in it.
Guest bimpy474
I still say there's a fair chance of getting him given the French players at the club already, that has to count for a lot surely Yes we have, it's just the fucking planks that do the deal which could fuck it up. Actually i think if we agree a fee then the rest seem ok on that front. It really is the fee bit that they might royally fuck up.

ponsaelius
That's one advantage of Aubameyang, not being Europa tied.

Guest TyneBridge
listen fellas there is nee way ashley will be dragged into a bidding war over Remy. This tripe will gan on till the end of January with the French club touting him all over Europe till a couple of days before deadline day when they will say that he is not for sale to any bidders & we will say we were not ganna be held to ranson. We will make a "late bid" for Theo Walcott at approximately 11-45 pm! We will then be forced to soldier on with Pappis Demba Cisse (who should play every game up front now....not wide pardew) and the chuckle brothers (ameobie's)

True, more chance of qualifying for that than the world cup though.

ponsaelius
Well they hosted the last one but failed to qualify for this years. Their qualifying record is quite erratic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabon_national_football_team#Africa_Cup_of_Nations_record

It's moving to odd years, but staying as a January competition.

Their qualifying record is quite erratic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabon_national_football_team#Africa_Cup_of_Nations_record Even the other one they did qualify they was out in group stages so yeah it might not mean as much as signing Ba and Cisse did. mikejaxer
I have a feeling this deal will be like Luuk De Jong, it'll be dragged on for a long time but ultimately he'll choose someone else. I hope we get him, he's a great player but I think a player of his calibre would probably want a team challenging for CL or is playing in the CL, not a team that's sitting 2 points above relegation. joeyt
Based on form, age and sell on fee, would Ince not be a better buy than Remy? I know he's not a frog or have international experience but we could probably get him for the same price. Just a thought, which has probably already been discussed

OM don't sound like they're in a hurry to sell & if I was them I'd keep him 'til 31st. Better to have then have not, price (in theory) ain't going to change. Should we be changing our name to Olympique Newcastle given the amount of players we get from OM and LOSC?
