mrmojorisin75
the point was simply that "feminists" said the conclusion to be drawn from the case is that rape is cool or something like that, quite clearly this is not the logical conclusion at a normal human male would draw from the whole thing evans acted the t*** and apparently treated the girl with utter contempt, probably like a piece of meat, however he shouldn't lose 2.5 years of his life and job etc. for it I suppose that's debatable on whether you think she should be judged on previous sexual encounters Nobody judged her on it in that sense, they highlighted in apparently clear terms that there were similarities and truths in what Evans had said vs her previous behaviour that called into question the idea she wasn't able to consent. And that was only reason he was convicted, an arbitrary decision that said she couldn't have consented.
Thomson Mouse
Genuine question: did it say she was smashed in those other encounters?
Hanshithispantz
It was sick but I dont advocate violence. Confirmed that he turned up to have sex with a pissed woman that his mate was and his brother was to film it? Was that what happened though, like did they plan on making some weird sex tape with a random lass, or were his brother and mate not just outside being 'lads'? I've got no doubt there was a load of proper 'bloke' behaviour going on like, shit craic probably but there's a massive difference between that and sexual abuse. One's sick, the other is probably just shite patter.
Thomson Mouse
I'm sure his bother and his mate just happened to be hanging around in the shrubs outside that hotel room and couldn't believe the coincidence
mrmojorisin75
Genuine question: did it say she was smashed in those other encounters? clearly i can't answer this question does it actually matter either way? if the implications are that she only says those things and acts that exact way when she's unable to consent then the two witnesses would be up for rape as well
Hanshithispantz
You're weirdly eager to prove to yourself that something properly sordid went on like, do you think he brought his brother and mate out as some kind of gonzo camera crew or something? Were they trying to sell the footage to Girls Gone Wild? They were all with each-other throughout the night, Evans and the other lad fucked some lass and they, being proper lads, were laughing and got their phones out. It's not too hard to imagine how it would have happened.
Hanshithispantz
Bet she walked into the hotel room with his brother standing there holding a boom microphone telling her not to worry.
Klaus
Neither of them walk away from this with much dignity tbh. Sadly these situations happen a lot under the influence of alcohol.

I imagine the only difference was that Evans et al had fucked off by the morning so she woke up confused and alone whereas the other blokes had stayed with her. Once again, none of that proves or disproves rape but it does once again show the basis for the initial conviction was madness.

Raconteur
The type of maniacs who start hate campaigns and send death threats whenever someone in the public eye passes comment that some forms of rape are worse than others, something that is frankly indisputable and that the law acknowledges. Not sure half of them even realise what they're arguing for or against half the time. You just invalidated rape culture. Typical white male privilege. I wonder how they can keep bandying terms like rape culture to describe Western countries. If the West has a 'rape culture,' what the fuck does the Congo, Saudi Arabia and the entire Middle East, India, etc. have? This is not to invalidate actual issues women face in Western countries. In fact, they're trivializing actual rape and misogyny by calling every little thing rape and misogyny, making those terms lose all meaning and gravity. You just made me vomit in my mouth. Embarrassing.

Seems more likely. And I'm glad you're glad that I am physically revolted that my partner and daughter have to share a planet with men who think like you. Astonishing. Okay, so you've pretty much gone off the rails then? Something about "men like" me. An ardent first + second wave feminist all my life, I've walked in anti-rape walks in Toronto, support causes for women in India (where I am from, where my mother is from, my fiancée is from, I don't know what that has to do with anything), found the first shoots of my feminist activism growing up in Uganda, and as of now I monetarily support institutions for liberal Muslims, ex Muslims and middle eastern feminists who are fucking sick and tired of people like you who have no clue what feminism is, have allowed the 3rd wave and 4th wave feminists to control the discourse. Because, you know, it's easier to demonized anyone who doesn't agree with you as a lesser human being instead of actually taking part in conversations that are currently shaping the feminist movement. So fuck you, eat shit, I hope you apologize for your insult.
DJ_NUFC
You know what? If you actually wanted to talk about all this stuff and where feminism is branching off and why the voices of rational and diverse feminists need to be heard, PM me and I would be happy to treat you like a human being. A luxury you couldn't afford me.

DJ_NUFC
There are waves of feminists? We're doomed, DOOMED! And I've been involved in discourses between people who ascribe to the many different off shoots of feminism, by talking to actual women both online and in person. We agree and disagree about many things, but it's always the uneducated who are so quick to shut down debate. One thing every feminist agrees on is the constant need for improvement and equality of gender roles (not just female, this goes back to the 1970s feminist literature), both in the west and across the globe. I just define rape culture very differently. You know, like how 2 months ago a female high court judge in india ruled that marital rape is not rape because consent was given at the wedding. That's rape culture. I can give you countless examples, but it's 4am here and I really should get some sleep and not let some guy on the internet ruin my mood. Too late for that
