Cronky
They might be figuring that if they get the money in now, and reinvest it in some other areas of the side, they can secure promotion.
Guest
Fair point. In which case they'd be best off selling early and getting their men in though.

sempuki
We never get involved when there is competition. Too much risk of having to spend more money.

We won't even get that as Penfold pretty much said it in that crap interview last week.

Guest ManDoon
@GraemeBailey: Newcastle will be hugely disappointed to lose out on Dele Alli. Graham Carr has been on his trail for more than two years. Lul

binnsy
If the stories are true about him not wanting to move up north and stay close to his family then we can't blame the club for missing out if the player doesn't want to come.

HawK
If the stories are true about him not wanting to move up north and stay close to his family then we can't blame the club for missing out if the player doesn't want to come. Although I'm sure that part of Graham Carr's remit is to only scout/follow up on players that are willing to come. I read a piece about how extensively he scouted the majority of the French contingent to ensure that they'd settle in quickly not only on the pitch but off it too. It's just an easy excuse imo. Wallace
If a player has options then we are unlikely to be first choice. We have no permanent manager and everyone knows we only buy a player to sell on for a profit. A player would look at Spurs and see that they are trying to build something and they will give young players a chance. They will sell players but only on their terms and if the player himself is agitating for the move.
EthiGeordie
If we dont sign up player quickly we are giving other teams tips to go ahead and sign someone. Which we did in this account for instance. So sad in a way.

Wallace
I remember an article in the local paper a couple of years ago when MK Dons discovered we were watching him and they said that our presence had immediately increased his price. The article was about Pardew justifying why we had to buy go abroad to buy young players because of the inflated prices of young English players. This constant monitoring eh?
