No, he played RWB. I was at all of those games - Dalglish often played 3-5-2 (or, because it was Dalglish, 5-3-2). His tactics and shape were often a complete mess by the end of 97/98. Sometimes they would erroneously show Pistone at LW. He wasn’t. Beresford did play LW a few times that season, oddly enough - and bagged a few goals (he didn’t score often before that). Fak Posted yesterday at 07:28 Share Posted yesterday at 07:28 Well thats an even shitter and more defensive formation than I thought.

The happy days of playing in a cup final and chanting ‘attack attack attack’. Gutless stuff. Tbh Barton often would effectively end up RW as Pistone (who was right footed) had a habit of playing both wings. Barton did regularly play RW for Wimbledon before we signed him for an exorbitant fee, so his being out there wasn’t that crazy. I still hate Dalglish after all these years, mind

Haha yeah, MOTD commentators would get far more moved by ‘cheating’ (ie going down easily) than common assault 😁
Lush Vlad
Anyone used Art of Football before? Ordered a class looking jumper off there. They’ve sent me someone else’s order Hoping it is easy and painless to sort out.

Hope you get it sorted easily enough.

Ikon
Last time I bought a shirt a pound was like just over 10skr or thereabouts iirc. This one now cost me like 1650kr… Edited 19 hours ago by Ikon
woody
Just got the home top after flying through Gatwick. Was cheaper than both the high street price and the price in Canada so win-win for me. Not as good quality as the one I had as a kid, which could be rose tinted glasses, but seems pretty decent stitching wise etc

Good to know that our shirts are available in London airports.

Be even more interesting to see what would have happened had we got Zola instead of Asprilla as they both left Parma at roughly the same time (not sure who left first); think we'd be talking about a living legend. JD Sports in Gatwick. I will say I’ve been pleasant surprised by how prominently placed the kit’s been in both Canadian and UK shops. I realize it’s different over here because of accessibility but the top used to never be stocked in Canadian shops.

Yeah, even Soccer World in Oakville used to have just 1 shirt from 2 seasons ago during the Ashley years.
Jonas
Asprilla sqeezed plenty of assists and goals into ten games. One less goal than Ferdinand and the sort of assists only the likes of him could do (West Ham and Liverpool) Apart from Batty and Albert there was nobody better than him in the run-in. Its an infuritating narrative. Two understated what ifs - if we'd have kept Fox (great money though) given Gillespie's subsequent injury or if we'd have kept Venison.
