Klopp wasn’t, Arteta has been on an upward curve for 3 seasons now. Pep is usually there or there abouts.

Top clubs get top managers and that’s how they stay being top clubs.

We’re a good side at our best, but we’ve either stood still or declined while others have improved. Why is it heresy to suggest that Howe shouldn’t take responsibility for that?

All it's ever taken for them to be inconsistent is for a couple of players to be out injured or for their teams to be in transition.

Very telling that you won't afford Howe the same courtesy you're giving managers who've been incredibly inconsistent relative to the quality of their squads and their spending power.

Lucky reminds me of that whopper who thought a club should also employ two managers and have them take it in turns to keep things fresh.

Well things are rather stale right now so maybe the whopper had a point back then 🙂

This nonsense again. Having an opinion on someone's else's opinion is just another opinion, it's not censorship.

I think he should be given the season and if it’s a flop we should make the change. I think that’s fair.

If I’m correct about Howe, let’s revisit this in December. Wissa should have had a few games by then and the manger with a full squad to choose from.

once again, have you ever worked with people before? Can't you see why this is such a ridiculous idea? Good luck convincing any coach worth his salt to sign up for that. It is one of the most insane takes I've seen on here. It sounds like something a 15 year old would come up with. If you're 15, then fair enough.

Just reading back, are you the same poster from a while back who said we should have two managers?

Start acting like a big club. Pellegrini was doing ok with City but they went and got Pep. Nobody talks about him or Mancini anymore, despite both winning the league for them.

There’s always better out there. What’s wrong with wanting better?

Nothing you post about reflects any broader context at all, it's just "I want this" and "why can't we have that?" and "this other club whose revenue dwarfs ours go and get the best out there". In a vacuum, sure, you can want those things but they're not based in sensible reality.

Shamelessly plagiarizing part of @Minhosa excellent post, because he worded it better than I could

"When you think of his overall time at NUFC, it's been nothing but pressure;

- Saves us from relegation. Massive pressure along the way.

- Can we make CL football?

- Can our squad cope with CL football?

- Tonali stuff

- Ashworth leaving

- Staveley and Ghoudossi leaving.

- Mitchell coming in

- Eales leaving

- Fucking Pneumonia!

- Back to work early to help us push for the CL again

- Isak

- Two new bosses now in the CEO and DOF

All the while winning us our first cup and achieving the CL twice."

I'd like to know who could realistically have done all that in the circumstances we had and who could now take us forward as "a big club" now, if not the man who has already done this before and deserves our trust now?

Sure, our current form isn't good, we're frustrating to watch, away form is crap, not every single decision he makes is perfect. But with all context applied sensibly, I don't want anyone else because chopping and changing at managerial level is shit and I trust Eddie Howe and find the idea of chucking him out or (laughably) "sending him out on sabbatical" to be a risible take, that you are entitled to hold, but will thankfully be a minority view.

I’m not saying that now, I want him replaced if he can’t turn it around this season. Can’t be more clear than that.

If there's always better out there, Man City should have sacked Pep last season. They presumably didn't because there isn't always better out there.

You actually said that you'd give him this season and then we should look at replacing him. You are blatantly changing the goal posts.

This is not having a go as hopefully my last post didn't come across as.

Just wondering what, to you, would make a realistically successful season as opposed to a flop one, across the four competitions that we're in?

I’m in no way trying to slight his achievement here. He made me eat my own words last season, I’d be more than happy if that happened this season. I’ve said multiple times that I like him and want him to succeed. But I love the club more than him.

I’m not moving any goal posts. I don’t think he’s going to turn it around this season but he should be given the chance to (which he will) - if he does, great. Just can’t see it this time.

Now you're full of brown material. You said that we should give him the season, but we should be looking at replacements in the summer. There was no if.

Fuck sake, any club that’s having a poor season should have a shortlist of potential replacements.

You want someone coming in to be part of a transfer committee, handle pre season and hit the ground running.

It should be quite obvious a month before the season ends where things will be.. so those discussions need to happen beforehand, not just sack him and have no plan.

 that's not what you said. And it fits in line with your other wildly absurd takes. But I commend you on sticking with this broken clock gambit every season. It won't bury all the times you've been wrong in the past, but full glory if Howe goes.

If you've been a fan for longer than the past 5 years, as we all have on here. I don't know how you can be anything other than delighted and amazed at what we've achieved under Howe. Wanting to bin that due to a potential down season (whose outcome is still far from known and could still yet be anything at all as last season proved), is a path to uncertainty and zero guarantees of anything as many other clubs have regularly shown.

As a fan of close to 50 years, I can guarantee you it can be a whole lot worse than being in the QF of the league cup, cruising along in the CL and being a bit flat in the league. Once the injuries clear up, I am personally confident we get on a run. Maybe i'm a glass half full type.

I said he should be given the season and replaced - you asked me about it and I’m elaborating.

At the crux of it is you think he’ll turn it around and we’ll be fine in the PL, I do not. Let’s revisit late December.

So who do you think would do a better job than Eddie Howe?

We are looking like a team that has just been promoted at the minute, looking like we have no quality on the pitch whatsoever that's worrying.

We've never looked as bad under howe before that's why a lot are questioning him.

When he was at bournemouth he played a 4-4-2 barely bothers trying it here to switch things up.
