Feels like the we're stuck in cycle of needing to have an absolute whopper of a performance every 8 games, for there to be some kind of internal investigation, asking hard questions etc. And then we improve again for a few games and then we get gradually worse again. Rinse repeat.

We’ve had 3 pretty grim defeats recently to be honest.

The more time goes on, the more I think people like Simon Jordon are right. He’s a good manager, but he’ll not take us to the next level.

Unlike you to be massively hyperbolic

Said it for quite a while to be fair, it’s just our fanbase won’t allow you to criticise on the back of a good result.

How could I have came on after knocking Arsenal out of the cup and said that?

Let’s face it, Top 4 finish aside, we have chicken every big game we have faced against the top 6 teams. Lost the cup final to an average Man Utd team who fluked their way into the top 4.

Beat them in games afterwards, but lost to a poor Man Utd team when a result for us would have got us into Europe and it was between us and them for the last place. Got beat off a poor performing Chelsea side in the league cup quarter final last season.

You mean the performance that got us into the second cup final in 3 years? That performance?

We are playing against City away, with a quite mediocre team. What are people expecting? Usually we get a whopping.

I think most of us expected us to have a go. To actually look like we had a semblance of a plan on how to come away with a point or three. This has been an absolute car crash.

They haven't beaten us by more than 2 goals since the 21/22 season (right after the takeover), and this is by far their weakest season in many many years. If you're talking in Mike Ashley years standards, then yes, we used to get a whopping and couldn't expect much more.

There's ways to keep it respectable though. Other teams worse than us put up a better fight. We aren't aggressive enough today and pressing has been wank.

Not to go in like a Steve Bruce side, give them far too much respect and play them like they’re the peak City of old just standing about waiting to lose? Not the fragile City who have looked wide open in midfield and on the counter all season.

There’s losing and then there is this  surprised if the City players will even need a shower after this.

I think a lot of us expected the team to have a bit of belief in themselves and play without fear. Most teams in the league don't play with fear against City anymore and it works, we've turned up here looking afraid.

System aside, does it look to you like the players are executing whatever they've been asked to do and it's the system letting them down?

If the system isn't working you then change it, not continue on. In game management when things aren't going well is a definite weakness with Howe. Some of those players should have been taken off also to send a message. You could tell after 10 minutes of play, that things were seriously not right.

Extremely poor post this. Don’t have the energy to pick it apart but people can level criticism against Howe and it’s absolutely fair to do so. However, you’ve written a bunch of stuff there devoid of context and focused entirely on negative highlights

This is the thing, if you're judging overall and not on a match-to-match basis, your opinion of Howe should be even higher, not lower.

Our record against the teams in Europe this season plus Forest, including cups is:

Played: 11

Won: 9

Drawn: 2

Lost:  1

Everyone in the Man City thread is saying the exact same things. We choke when it comes to the big games that we need to win.

Let’s continue this on the 17th March, I hope I’m admitting that I’m wrong.

I expect fuck all from the final against Liverpool. Plenty feel the same. Not sure how that adds any weight to your weird, moveable feast of an argument.

The problem with Pep's system against Howe is, that there are so much space between the lines, exactly where Marmoush and Foden play. Or KDB. We have always been in trouble with City's passing and they always find space. I don't know if Howe has answers for this. He has against some teams.
