Possibly a reflection of transition, competing voices or even power struggles. One of the less discussed dimensions of this is the possible sidelining or minimisation of Steve Nickson, who by all accounts has played a pretty important role in some of our best recruitment work to date. The hope would certainly be that we could unearth another Bruno/Isak somehow, and those reported targets you mentioned are certainly encouraging too. Equally though, I don't dismiss the possibility of a world where we go and spend the incoming funds on Guehi, Elanga and James Trafford - an abysmal scenario and yet the reports from the last transfer window give the idea some credibility. Yep, Steve Nickson needs to play a bigger role, he’s got an eye for talent.

I'd be interested to know if, how, and why his role has changed over time. Definitely feels like he's become a lot less prominent, and he seemed to be responsible for a lot of positivity. Would be even happier if we didn't have to sell him at all. At 27 he's at his peak, but because of cartel PSR fixing we have to start looking at selling players at this age instead of enjoying them at our own club. While I obviously understand that, January just doesn’t seem to be a window where there's a necessity to be hasty, top of Citys lists are Wurtz and Zubimendi, still I'd imagine both those deals being made next summer. Pep has only ever said Guimarães is a player he likes, but, I'd imagine Pep has praised a lot of players, off the back of such praise, people here and particularly NE journalists need that narrative to have stories to write that keeps the bills being paid. Plus other than Arsenal from memory, there's not many clubs who sell their current captains, especially midway through a season. Regardless of Bruno, I really don't think we'll do anything at all in January. I just think lots of people get carried away, year after year, with reality checks landing on 31st January. El Prontonise Posted Saturday at 17:00 Share Posted Saturday at 17:00 (edited) Not for the first time since he's been here lucky to stay on the pitch. Just needs to learn when to calm it down. Edited Saturday at 17:05 by El Prontonise

CallumG6 Posted Saturday at 22:02 Share Posted Saturday at 22:02 Him walking off bowing to Strawberry corner and the Gallowgate when he was subbed off was a top moment. You rarely find someone like him that bleeds black and white just like the rest of us. Irreplaceable in my opinion.

But he has spades of intangibles that we clearly struggle to replace when he’s not there. Obviously I’d take literally any fucker lifting a trophy for us, but if he could manage it the next couple of seasons, it would be so incredibly deserving. AyeDubbleYoo Posted Saturday at 23:03 Share Posted Saturday at 23:03 It was brilliant that they made him go off on the far side, would've been far better for Leicester to let him jog across the pitch.
Gallowgate Toon Posted Saturday at 23:14 Share Posted Saturday at 23:14 He's always looking for Isak early in this role, even if it's only half on - it's fantastic.

M1tche Posted Saturday at 23:28 Share Posted Saturday at 23:28 Love him further forward he's playing the hard passes in areas that mean the transition would hurt us a lot less, and they are more likely to lead to clear cut chances. If he can keep doing that and not step on Sandro's toes, and we then add another threat or get Willock back to his 100% we have a top level midfield. That's not how it would have worked though. He gets a yellow for the dive, then everything after would have unfolded differently. Different passages of play would have happened. Butterfly effect means that something small changing locally can eventually have repercussions on the other side of the world. What we're talking about here is something different happening on the same pitch. The ref pauses play to book Bruno, everything after that in the ground happens differently because all the players are in different positions, make different decisions and hit the ball differently. It's like when a commentator says "He could have had 3 today!" after a player misses 3 chances. No, he could have had 1 three times. Score one, and everything after is different. That's true of every single thing on the pitch though. I stand by he deserved both cards and nobody except a supreme being running things can say what may have happened. We can only judge on what ACTUALLY happened. Scoring though can affect what a team does tactically. Even then, there is no way to know.
80 Posted Saturday at 23:46 Share Posted Saturday at 23:46 Are we talking about the pen shout where he got barged by their defender? Given the amount of dives I see rewarded and defended, including on here, regularly, I'm totally nonplussed by the idea he should've had a yellow. Kind of looked like he was heading to the ground before that even. Comms mentioned he may have been expecting more contact. It looked like a dive to me. Glad he wasn't carded, mind. By modern standards - I don't like them - but by modern standards that's basically never a card then. I think I can remember seeing one card for diving since 2021... But I can remember seeing a lot more clearer dives than that.
