General NUFC stuff: club crest to be changed (Official)

I'm sure when this topic was talked about on here a while back someone mocked up a simplified version of the current crest which was absolutely spot on.

Just do that and be done with it.

Thanks

@Kid Icarus, no?

It’s weird how many people don’t care about the badge, the ground or what the shirt looks like. What part of the club do you care about?

Is the current crest so sacrosanct to people like?

It's pretty much been the same for my lifetime but I understand it's not the crest. I love it but understand why the club are trying to restore and revive for the modern age.

That ash willerton pretty much nailed why the current one is a mess in the digital age.

Edit- don't agree with the way the club has done this mind, the timing and the loaded nature of the survey makes me think this is lip service for the inevitable change they have already ratified.

We are Newcastle United, we wear black and white stripes, we play in Newcastle City centre. Everything else is inevitably going to change from time to time.

If it’s the crest we’ve had for the longest time in the history of the club is it not the crest?

Is the city coat of arms not the longest iteration of our crest?

The current one is just an adapted version for nufc created in the 90's?

Genuine question btw.

Edit:

For anyone old enough, how was the multiple changes 60's through to 90's handled by the fan base?

The existence

The one club city

55 years of support

Good and bad

The players

The support

Regional pride

Results (or effort 😂

For the other bits and fwiw "my" NUFC can play anywhere, wear any shirt (B&W home, obvs) & I genuinely could care less about a badge 😂

As long as Bruno's kissing it after knocking in a winner

Fair enough but in 55 years of support they’ve worn that badge for 37 years of it. Becomes part of it for me.

FWIW I'm not against a change, it's all going to hinge on what it's like. If it's like the Ash Willerton one I'll welcome it with open arms, if it's some simplified shite with some lip service that's been added retrospectively then I'll be against it. Don't think the club's gone about it in the right way at all though.

I expected it to change a bit but for people not to be bothered I don’t understand.

They’ve got all the money in the world. Do it right and take care of it rather than changing it because it looks funny on a website.

Can’t recall there being much of a kick off when it changed previously…

Bottom line is they’re wanting to change for a reason and if it makes commercial sense they’ll do it… sentiment doesn’t come into play now especially for a badge that’s been changed previously…

I’m more concerned about keeping a city centre stadium, building on carabao cup success, securing champions league football and continuing to progress on all fronts…. And this is what we’re looking at after countless years of shite bar a few in the 90’s…

Nobody is not going to buy a new top or throw their season ticket in because of it… life is good….

Thing that pissed me off the last time is the shirt didn’t change, so I had the old one with the ‘NUFC’ stylised badge on and the next season the same shirts bore the new crest. I can’t remember anyone complaining although it was obvious the new badge was a homage to the old city crest. There certainly wasn’t any ‘fan consultation’ that’s for sure.

No matter when you were born this is the badge the club has had for the longest period of time. Surely that means something.

Newcastle fans between 1892-1989 would never have even seen this badge so I don't think so, no. Our generation maybe, but then there'll be a new badge and that'll be deemed "the" badge in 40 years time.

But there wasn’t a badge then. They didn’t have one.
