Another failure.  Mad how we’re overselling in the ballot against Bromley in the FA Cup.

So from what I've seen...you pay 40 odd quid for a "basic membership" which gives you a chance of getting a ticket? Or am I wrong?....sounds so much like something INEOS would do

Yes, but if it was INEOS it would be £40 plus an extra £10 if you’re disabled and need to use a wheelchair.

Why hasn't more been made or of? Seems like a way of getting a lot of money while actually delivering nothing...as much as I'd want to get a ticket, if I was going to spend £40 on a chance of something I'd put it on euro millions

Plus £20 for 'special membership' to be allowed to take said wheelchair into the ground

Because it isn’t unique to Newcastle. We’re just copying what every other major club does*. It’s the norm now.

 

*obviously every club has a slightly different way of doing things. Some have tiered membership, some based on what you’re prepared to pay, some based on ‘loyalty’, but the principle is always the same - pay to have the chance of buying a ticket.

Fair enough...just don't understand how it's never been raised in the media....especially as it is essentially gambling

I've not bothered getting a membership this year, and just asked about for tickets from friends/family when I've wanted to go.

The worrying thing woukd be if more people do that as the membership is costing money with no return, and then ballots are just full of touts/people from other clubs wanting tickets

I've no problem with the club doing a ballot especially when tickets are difficult enough to get hold of anyway, but charging for the 'privilege' of being in a draw where its quite realistic you could never get anything is exactly the same as gambling.

 

I'm sure I'm not alone in not being able to justify spending £40 odd just for a chance to pay  for a ticket
