That's a massive difference commercially, which is the ultimate prize in the long run.

Young striker on loan makes a lot of sense.

The long run being the main point. After the previous horror show ownership this situation is amazing. I can wait a year for champions league football if it means a more measured and planned approach to rebuilding a balanced squad.

I don't think that'll be enough to get Gallagher like.

I assume we're not even going to that number and loaning him to us is probably Chelsea's last choice.

Should be? A lot of sources say £35-40m should do it?

Typical Everton. Almost inevitable they throw away the money we've given them. Do they even need midfielders, nope!

It’s a pre arrangement to nudge him towards us!

If he goes there I look forward to us making a lowball offer in July when Everton's finances are even more fucked after getting relegated.

They are completely insane.

Could probably have got two really good players with that money, and possibly three if they were a bit clever. My goodness.

Howe confirmed today if the Shelvey moved hadn't of happened, we wouldn't have done any more business. If none of their preferred targets are available, I wonder how a loan with an obligation for Berge fits into their thinking.

Then thank God he did move!

The amount of fake blue tick accounts in the comments makes me cringe.

I don't even rate him that highly but it would be hilarious for us to gazump Everton to him on deadline day leaving them with no-one.

I preferred yesterday's optimism and news to today's so far.

Expect we will have a lot of deals thrown at us tomorrow. Possibly another exit with Fraser or more.

I'm surprised there hasn't been more interest in Fraser. I don't particularly rate him, but he can produce some end product on his good days.

Thanks for setting the price for us  Everton.

I think it'll be morelike we have set a new benchmark for young English players. Every selling club will be deciding whether their player is better or worse than Gordon

Gallagher would be a decent fit as one of our number eights.  If he can recapture his Palace form, he'll be decent pick up for someone.
