You might get away with it for a couple of games (unless you really are a Man City) but look at Chelsea, they’ve got a fantastic squad and Havertz playing up top. Bonkers. In practice I doubt few would disagree, including Ashworth and Howe. But we're not going to have a perfect squad overnight. It's honestly a fucking miracle we shipped out Wood and Shelvey. I wouldn't want us outlaying 40m for him in the summer because we are obliged to pay it and not have the finance to go after Maddison or Neves. Perhaps we could do both, but I doubt we would. Alberto2005 Posted January 30, 2023 Share Posted January 30, 2023 (edited) I'm not against signing Gallagher, but my main concern about the lack of depth in our midfield is Bruno getting injured because it means we're reliant on Longstaff playing the no.6 role. I think I'd feel more comfortable having Berge as a replacement as he would play as a 6 whereas Gallagher is more of an 8. I also think if we had Berge we could play Bruno as an 8 some games. I can just about buy into one very expensive 20 something English player that I don't particularly rate, not sure I could buy into another one - not when we've seen what that amount of money has got us in Botman and Bruno anyway.
