We say this every transfer window, yet the league shakes out differently every time. We always overrate other squads and underrate our own.

I want a CB and RW who significantly improve the first team and if they don't significantly improve the first team, I'd rather we didn't bother. 

 

I don't want the club to tie themselves to players who are only slight improvements on the players in those positions already, causing us the same issues we already have further down the line.

 

I don't think there's any debate that we should sell Miggy if we can and replace him with genuine quality if we can.

TBH I didn't know I wanted a CB until recently, I didn't know we would buy one this window. 

 

RW was the only one I was sure about.

We paid his previous club for the right to call him ours, and we paid his wages. Of course you can - there was a 10 page thread on our transfer dealings last summer and the majority vote was that it was a good window. Why should this be any different? There are key gaps in the squad that have not yet been addressed, so until they are I still don't think its as good as a window as people saying "We have injured players back"

Hard agree, and if we get Guehi but no RW, that's clearly the club's approach too.

 

If we'd got Tosin for nowt we'd probably be chasing a Raphinha type at this point.

Wouldn't say its seen as a good transfer window but does soften the stance on the club not moving quickly to get shiny new toys in and rather being patient to sign the right purples.

If Minteh had stayed, he would have likely been behind Almiron and Murphy in the pecking order for playing time this season. A loan move might have been a better option for him, as it is unlikely that he would have started ahead of our current options..

Luckily I judge my club on performances on the pitch, rather than transfer windows. 

 

Thankfully since the ownership change and Howe being manager, our performances on the pitch have far surpassed any expectations I had.

If by gap you're referring to RW then there's only a gap if our attack is fundamentally dysfunctional. I don't see any evidence of that based on last season; we scored a million goals. 

 

We all might engage in the "how did we do" debate but in reality you can't actually judge how effective the window has been until the results are seen on the pitch. It's the only real measurement tool.

The reality is that we may not be able to acquire a new right winger unless Almiron or Murphy moves on. Without European competition, it would not be practical.

I've also severely under estimated how much people dislike Miggy.

 

I mean, the guy frustrates the hell out of me, but not to the extent where I will be happy with ANYONE to replace him, regardless of cost, fit, price or whether they are actually any good.
