We can’t, but I think that’s fine for this season. We are going to have to sell one or two of our big players this summer in order to buy more quality across the pitch. I’m at odds to understand how we can improve any other way.

If we can create some PSR flexibility, I would love to think Mitchell would find us some great players within his network of contacts.

I’m curious to know who you’d sell?

We'll go backwards if we sell any purples, we need to build a team around them

It’s obvious we will have to sell one or two of our better players to progress as a club. PSR means there is no other way in the short term.

Liverpool did it when they sold Torres, Suarez and then Coutinho. Spurs did it with Gareth Bale. We will have to do it as well.

Trying to constantly have it both ways is going to result in what’s happening right now.

Effective selling will need to be made at some point.

Have to agree unfortunately. Although those players were sold pre PSR.

Why aren't we looking at the loan market?

Yeah this annoys me a bit, a fresh face or a new attacking option to come off the bench could have done wonders today. No way there wasn't anyone available who could have given us a short term boost.

From Eddie:

Quote

Howe said: "Yes, of course there is. But then you have to look at the cost. Everyone has an assumption that a loan deal comes with minimal cost. Loan deals can be just as expensive as a permanent transfer.

"Although, they don't have the legacy of one, sometimes they are short-term. So you have that and you have the quality of player available on loan. I am not sure they exist."

Not a fan of loans it appears.

While I agree with the first paragraph being the strategy we are following - I don’t get it. What’s the point of keeping the band together one more season and then not going for it?

I’ve been more keen to see what we do off the pitch than on it. Because it doesn’t quite make sense to me.

Me?  I’d sign someone now - and sell Joelinton by June to Saudi to make it work. Or do some creative to get us revenue.

If we follow the strategy I think we are.  There’s only 1 player we could sell that would guarantee rebuild money.  The others are less certain to get north of £80m.  I don’t know how much headspace getting rid of the dead wood gets us and half of those will need replacing.

Figured it’d be Isak. I’m the same.

Selling a purple would feel like the project has failed.

What if selling one meant we get two great players for the "project"?

It's all a game. Players will come and go.

Yup. I think it’s more “restructuring” than rebuilding.

Isak and Bruno are the heart of the team. The big marquee signings of the first 2 windows under the new ownership.  Selling either work mark an entire new team and era. At the time we all thought they would be with us at the destination. Zabaleta types.

Mitchell has done nowt so far, if he's here to support Eddie he's doing a fuckin shite job, since he arrive the squad is weaker, he's taking us backwards.

Give over will you.

You have no idea what's going on behind the scenes.

I don’t think Isak is, Bruno definitely. Do I think Isak likes playing for us? Absolutely, but I think he will want a bigger stage than we can provide. Sucks, but seems inevitable, much like Fulham beating us today. [emoji38]
