All of the goodwill he had built up with me had all but disintegrated by the end of the summer transfer window tbh. I just don't think he's up to the job in anything other than a "getting by" capacity which isn't good enough.
Lloydie
Yeah, turned around the mess Souness left, got us into Europe, got us through the Intertoto and has now got us 9th in the league despite having a monster injury crisis. Say what you like but there's eleven teams having a worse season in the premiership who haven't had to field their academy players plus a right winger as a back 4. Got Butt playing well, got Dyer back and playing well, getting the best out of Milner, signed Martins (best big money acquisition of the season) and Sibierski (best no money acquisition of the season). Yup, he's done nowt. Must be time to go through another exercise of ditching a manager, paying them off, restructuring the squad and starting all over again... Guest JamesD
not saying this is a reflection on all transfers, but there was that quote from some PSV guy saying that everything was OK, but our chairmain messed things up. and as for the summer, he brought in martins and sibs, who have been great, and its too early to write duff off yet. He was clearly trying to get Bridge, and had the Cole deal come off sooner, we probably would have had him. Bernard may not be amazing as Bridge (but a bernard of old would probably leave most on here happy), and its not really Glen's fault he hasn;t been able to get a game yet, because he a fit bernard may be the best option we have on the left. And the CB situation this year hasn't been as bad as people are making out, and hopefully gooch will help it out further.
BottledDog
not saying this is a reflection on all transfers, but there was that quote from some PSV guy saying that everything was OK, but our chairmain messed things up. Our Chairman pulled the plug as Roeder and the club as a whole failed to attract a replacement. That messed things up. If Roeder felt he could manage without Luque then the deal would have gone through, but despite his protestations to the contrary, he needs bodies. Newcastle 1 Birmingham 5 The worst defeat ever by a premier or old 1st div team by a lower league team. Not just the score it was the manner of the defeat.......total domination Imo this defeat was worse than the Hereford 2-1 debacle Played at Hereford on a bog....looked more like a pig pen than a football pitch The manager is by far the most important person to a football team (apart from Abramovich) so weve ended up with someone who just happened to be there. The manager, imo, should be the highest payed person at any football club I dont dislike Roeder as a person, hes just not good enough for a team the size of Newcastle. Couple that with a 24carat tosser like sheperd & your in trouble Newcastle have been terrible this season but have managed to scrape through. Would i pay to watch them right now ....no, at times theyre a shambles, embarrassing The Keegan era seems a distant memory now
