Believe it or not I was there during half time and before the match too where I wasn't analysing the warm-up. I noticed the view. I could see the match just fine from Level 7 too, a lot better than at Spurs' new stadium. This is a thread about the stadium, and sometimes I notice things about the stadium. You shouldn't even be noticing you had a better view of the city, your eyes should be firmly fixed on the pitch like a proper fan. Besides, it was a lot less souless for me up there in L7 than it has been in any of my games in the lower Leazes. The atmosphere was once again dead today and in parts of L7 your 1/4 mile from the centre circle. Sometimes when you're that far away from the action your concentration can wither somewhat I find and I speak from plenty of experience. I just find that I feel detached from it all when I sit up there. Agree the Leazes End is dreadful as well. In fact I'm struggling to think of any positives for the argument to remain at SJP. Expand Atmosphere in the block next to the away end was better than anywhere I’ve sat for the last season and a half, aside from the Strawberry corner. Safe standing the reason imo. Unless your eyesight is absolutely shocking it's nowhere near as bad as you make it sound. My 64 year old fatha can see from the very back just as well as I can. I was right up there for the Brentford league cup match and the atmosphere was better than expected. Admittedly it really helped being in the safe standing section. In terms of view of the game it’s better than lowdown , but I like to feel close to the players. You could build the most acoustically perfect cauldron on the planet but that guarantees nothing. What a new ground could provide is the chance to allow or indeed encourage like-minded fans to all be in the same area. "The Grumpy old Boomer Stand" or "Uncle Buzzcock's Stand Up and Gan Radge Stand"... The only way you're going to achieve that is by uprooting season ticket holders en masse - in theory there's nothing stopping the club doing that now but it's probably an easier sell if you're starting from scratch. Foolish to think that it wouldn't improve the atmosphere if we had a designated end behind one of the goals for the more vocal fans instead of them all being dotted around in small groups as they currently are. Expand Where would you put them? I know they used to be in the Leazes NE corner before the expansion. Would seem weird having them anywhere in the lower bowl. Expand I think the problem is that everyone regardless of how they sing, will want to be sat there. The only 2/3 reasons why someone say in the East stand won’t sit in that area would be price, safe standing (if they are older), and the fact that they don’t sit along the pitch and see behind 1 goal.
