Guest JamesD
http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~1025449,00.html SAM Allardyce says a meeting with chairman Freddy Shepherd convinced him to take the managerial job at Newcastle United. Big Sam landed on Tyneside on Tuesday morning and was due to be unveiled at a Press conference at St. James' Park at 1pm, having signed a three-year contract. Speaking as he arrived at Gallowgate, he said: "Once Freddy Shepherd make it clear he wanted me then there was no doubt where I would be going. "After leaving Bolton Wanderers last week I was expecting a longer rest but once Freddy opened that door I was in. "When I met Freddy I could feel his passion for Newcastle United. He is a passionate supporter and it's well known throughout football that he has always supported his managers. "Now it is up to everyone from Freddy down to me the players and even the tea ladyto give these fans the success they deserve. "I suppose this is the greatest challenge I have ever had. "But it is one I am excited about and one I am looking forward to. It's no secret that what has happened in the past is not good enough for a club as big as Newcastle United and it is now my job to change all that." Sam was due to meet the United squad and staff on Tuesday morning, and insisted: "Everyone starts with a clean sheet." I know this was a well documented problem under Souness, and can only assume that the inept roeder wasn't able to do much about the problem. But with Allardyce coming in,do you think we'll finally see the much needed change in that department?
kirkwdavis2001
We need some experience in that position to be honest; those tea bags just need to be left in the pot a while longer - I can't understand why we can't get that right! I understand Sheff Utd.'s tea lady has handed in a transfer request so it may be worth persuing that.
STM
The tea ladys best years are behind her. The standard of tea has dropped every year and for me is the reason behind our horrible injury record in recent years. I also believe her attitude towards the club has changed. She used to manage 6 cups in under 12 minutes, now she merely manages 3 cups and some hob nobs. I say the changes need to be ringed sooner rather than later. Guest JamesD
"Tea Lady Out!" campaign perhaps? Who wants to do the website?
Bad Mongo
I think we should bring in a specialist from China. The English have only been into tea for - what? - a few centuries at most, and the tea quality has suffered a noticeable decline along with the empire. At the same time, the Chinese economy is expanding, and to stay on the forefront, we need to tap into their vast experience. Especially when it comes to green teas. Replacing the tea lady is a necessary first step into the 21st century, and we should not be too sentimental about it.

La Parka
Why do they always go on about the tea lady? Remember when Souey was doing a press conference and she brought him a cuppa mid sentence!

Guest JamesD
You all should be shot. If you don't have anything constructive to say about what some obviously feel is a pressing issue, then please stay out of the thread.

Tisd09
The tea lady has out lasted everybody, maybe she is the jinx of the club? One scary part of that is everybody starts with a clean slate. Hope it doesn't mean Bramble gets re-signed??

Guest Phil K
Allardyce making backroom changes can hardly make matters worse, can they ? I dunno, if Big Sam can get Bramble to perform like he did against Chelsea on a consistent basis, we'll have an immense player on our hands. Agreed. Bramble is the most frustrating player I have ever seen - he's got it in all departments but between the ears....
Guest JamesD
i recomend that big sam try the "smack the fuck out of him if he ever even looks like making a mistake" method. I've heard good things.
Leazes1986
"Glen Roeder does not like Tetleys. I'm not making excuses because Glen Roeder doesn't make excuses, but at the end of the day the tea wasn't up to standard and the tea lady should have left. Thats not an excuse so please don't write it as an excuse, it is a reason."

Guest NUFCnutter
As I mentioned the other day, I have it on good authority(my dad is the milkman of the tea lady) that she just signed a new deal tying her to St James' for at least 5 years. There was a slight stumbling block, when shepherd wanted to change the biscuits to Rich Tea, but she held out for hobnobs!!!! Get in there Tea-lady! She is a woman we should all be very proud of! Aye because they are part of the team Relax.Allardyce is not like Roeder who never had the courage to drop his pals Carr and Duff. Allardyce soon enough will see what kind of crap the likes of Carr,Babayaro,Bramble,Ramage are and probably will get rid of them. Im curious what he will do with Bramble though His contract is until the summer.

He just needs to remember our games against Bolton when in the one at St.James Park Titus was shocking and in the second Ramage was superb with his own goal. Allardyce just needs to watch the games where Titus and Ramage played and that will be enough for his judgement
