Newcastle Fan
Hahah Arnie having a go at the players, love it. Schwarzer lost 2 kilograms in the first game. Imagine what the outfield players lost, i think some lost up to 5 kilograms i heard. Lets hope the same goes for Viduka.
Guest exilim
Common! Iraq 2 - 1 Australia! Lose Aussie Lose!!!!!!!! Get knocked out of the group stage so Viduka will come back for pre training earlier Great news! Sam's said he's going to give Viduka time off after this isn't he... If they finished the tournament on 29th july (Finals), he will get 7 days of rest which means he will come back on the first or 2nd week of August. So if they get knocked out earlier like probably 16th, he can come back before August isn't it? Then we will have him in our first game, sweet stuffs! Guest Dev
Well having just watched the game it's just been made official - Viduka is back in fat lazy bastard mode. He is absolutely embarrassing himself out there, and he's just shown that without proper motivation he can be diabolical. Sure he got a goal, as it was in the first minute after half time before he completely ran out of breath again. Allardyce be warned. Get Viduka on the treadmill or get him on the bench. Guest SLK
What a wonderful game Iraq played...Really happy for Iraq with the conditions their country is going through and daily bombing and death, they can still play beautiful football...Just puts everything into perspective and shows how spoiled some of the players from other nations are... Man of the match for me was Nashat Akram...He was the maestro, such a beautiful pass to Howar Mullah to score the 2nd goal and the same players almost embarrassed chwartzer for the 2nd time when he almost chipped him but his ball hit the woodwork... Iraq deservedly won the game and should have been at least 5 goals up by the end of the match... Group A table after 2 games: P W D L F A Pts Iraq 2 1 1 0 4 2 4 Thailand 2 1 1 0 3 1 4 Australia 2 0 1 1 2 4 1 Oman 2 0 1 1 1 3

Razor
That was woeful from the aussies, our press box went a bit nuts over the "players who dont want to be here" comment , least Viduka scored and should be heading back over to Europe soon, imo and from the comments he's been making his mind is on NUFC not our national team, which is a good thing i think

aussiemag
australian players not fit enough.... think they are better than they really are.. tactically inept coach much like glen roeder was...made one change from a team that was outdone by a bunch of amateurs from a side from OMAN... no pace to australia game.. try to aply a continental style of game and when it does not work against disciplined sides like Iraq they resort to long ball tactics. Players are not fit enough or tactically disciplined enough to succeed.
Guest exilim
I think even the aussies didn't expect themselves to be that woeful, the weather really makes a big difference tho.

Given scraps all night and no real clear cut chances to even attempt a shot at goal and he is slated. He wins basically all the balls in the air and he is slated. Despite this being played in hot, humid conditions and playing with some sub standard players around him. What was he suppose to do all night? Run up and down the wing? Put in a few crosses, which lead to goals? He did what he could, he held the ball up and won the balls in the air. He scored a goal and this is playing in a side that was utter shit all night. I dont think i would expect much more from any players.
aussiemag
the weather is just an excuse as far as im concerned. its 11 on 11 in ame conditions and Australia has been there 3 weeks to acclimatise..
Taylor Swift
The Aussies will need to beat us by 2 goals to go through. A 1-0 defeat for us would mean we go through (iirc). Should be a great game on Sunday. Hopefully we'll freaking start Leesaw from the beginning because his pace will be needed. Kiatisuk can sit this game out, we need to have an effective counter-attack to capitalize on any mistakes the Aussies make. Should be a great game! Newcastle Fan
Viduka today was fairly average, but i have to say his header for the goal was fantastic, if we can provide him with that kind of cross's and service next season he might hit 15 or 20+ goals.. But honestly, the whole Australia team was shocking, they didn't do anything to deserve even a point from this game..they looked poor, slow and lacking fitness, Iraq outclassed them the whole 90 mins. I dont think i would expect much more from any players. Target men, especially if operating as a lone striker, have to work a lot harder than that in order to create goals and chances. Think about Drogba, Van Nisteelrooy, and Kevin Davies from Bolton, those guys are/were target men, and they really had to put in all-action performances to lead the line, something Viduka wasn't doing. There was almost no movement from anyone on the team, including Viduka. Yeah, he's happy to stand around and win speculative long balls when they get near him, but that's not gonna cut it in this league, the pace is a lot faster. I'd like to see him along side a pacier partner, and I think a Viduka - Owen/Martins partnership has promise, but he really shouldn't be played as a lone striker. And it was a pretty laid-back performance regardless.
Newcastle Fan
I read it was Cahill that set Viduka up? Came off the bench again. Woeful result mind. Actually it was Brett Emerton, his cross went over Cahill's head but Viduka was behind him and headed a lovley header in.
