Guest Knightrider
YES This to me suggests the review is complete or near enough complete, and we should see things moving quicker from now on. As for Mort, his intelligence will see him through, most of football is common sense, something FS lacked. Apply that and he'd be alright. Happy, me? Fuking delighted. Good riddance fat man. Plenty of lawyers and other "intelligent" men in football mate, some of them very rich too, not too many of them matched our ex board though. Success in football will only come if you are ambitious and are courageous enough to spend big money, if you don't do this, you will never get it. You haven't a cat in hells chance. Would be wise to exercise a bit of caution and wait and see, I think. I agree, but unless you also have the intelligence to go with the big spending, you won't succeed regardless of how much money you throw at things, which is why we've never won anything, despite spending vast sums. Mort is an intelligent guy who has handled major deals for the likes of Sky among others, he is no mug. I'm of the opinion that if you're clever, you can apply yourself to anything and lets be honest here, football off the pitch isn't a whole lot different to most other companies, they both have to turn a profit and beat off any competition. The only possible concern would be valuing players, but that's where Big Sam can come in or market trends. I'm sure he can negotiate well, given he's done so in the past for the likes of Sky and of course Mike Ashley, a man worth £2 billion. The way I look at it, he can't possibly do any worse than Shepherd who didn't recognise the value of a player (or a manager), whose negotiation skills were crap and who lets be frank, is thick as pig shit. Anyway not that the entire previous board are gone, finished, history, I'm going to stop thinking about them and look to the future under new management, they have my full support and best wishes. They start with a clean slate and it's now up to them to make a success of United. Lets all unite in wishing them well.
NE5
When Sir John sold out he said that Ashleys people (whoever they are) had connections with Newcastle, if so, who was he referring to? Surely not telling porkies, ie his "Geordie Team" and "Sporting Club" bollocks ?

FS could do as he damn well pleased, he had no-one to answer to and hadn't put a penny into the club, plus his dividends were guaranteed whether the club turned a profit or not, whether we qualified for Europe or not. toontownman
Little bit about what Lord Michael of Forde was up to on behalf of Bolton. http://football.guardian.co.uk/News_Story/0,,2036021,00.html http://krconnect.blogspot.com/2007/03/mike-forde-bolton-wanderers-football.html Not sure of there being a technical director at Bolton though. NG32
"the fans got edgy when the bottomless pit looked over" AO is a cunt. We got edgey when we realised that the problems with our defence over the last two seasons were totally ignored by two managers. Problems that had even been there from SBR. AO you are a cheeky leather faced slag.

Guest sicko2ndbest
The way i see it is Mort needs to communicate with the Chronicle/Journal if he is to get the fans on side. No matter how much we go on about the aforementioned papers, nearly all of us read their articles, bullshit or not. How many of us would read the Chronicle if there was nothing about Newcastle United in there? He says the internal review is going well. I wish he would have given us an approximate timescale on the conclusion as this is quite apparatly causing Big Sam to drag his heals in the transfer market. I wish he would give us a better idea of what exactly they are looking into as part of the review and why it is taking so long if it the most important thing that is going on at the moment. Mike Ashley needs to come out with a statement about his intentions. So far after the initial SJH buyout he has said very little and it has been left to 'sources' to dish the gossip.
