Sick of all these negative articles. Two weeks ago we had £50m to spend and were after Ronaldinho, now we have no money and have to sell before we sign anyone. The media are just playing a guessing game, truth be told no one really knows what's happening in terms of transfers. In the transfer market actions speak louder than words, really hoping we see a flurry of activity before the start of the season. If we don't it'll be concerning.

As i said yesterday and someone has already mentioned, it must be driving the Press crazy that MA has said nothing, No cheesy pitch side photos wearing the shirt etc. Some of the storys may be true but i really think there just making alsorts of random shite up to try and get a response, Signing Etoo,Deco, Ronaldinho one week and Selling players to raise funds the next...

First thing MA people said when they took over the club was they wanted a team of Tevez's, this isn't just going to change in a couple of weeks. He's a businessman and knows to keep a low profile especially in the transfer market and let the signings speak for themselves, if Roeder was still in charge we wouldn't of signed anyone yet.

Honestly think this weekend and next week will see us back in the market... :coolsmiley:

At least with transfer windows we get concentrated nonsense from the papers for a couple of months, then we can relax a bit until January.

Football must be the only field where journalists don't have to demonstrate an ability to uncover the truth and write about things that actually happen, and can just write what the fuck they like.

That and celeb gossip of course...

I was speaking to my contact at The Telegraph this morning and the recurring theme was along these lines:

One has to remember the owners of a lot these newspapers are rabid evil barons like Conrad Black (The Mail) and Rupert

Murdoch (The Times). These types are also closeley alligned to the  London money market types who have developed a dislike for Ashley. They are voiceferous and influential element withing the London gentlemans club scene who are after our owner who has pissed them off in the recent past. In many ways he has beaten them at their own game using their own instruments and he has paid scant regard to the protoclols one abides by within these activities. He is seen as a bit of a renegade and this media backlash are their efforts to bring him to heel.

This recent spate of  these types of articles are TOTAL SPECULATION AND SHIT STIRRING.

We must hold together.

No chance we'd put him up for sale, he's a huge asset and perfect for when Owen gets injured for 6 months and the club stop this obsession with a Owen-Viduka partnership, as the only partnership that will work.

Conrad Black doesn't, and never did, own the Mail. Used to own the Telegraph. Now he owns no newspapers at all.

Can't imagine Rupert Murdoch being that bothered about Ashley, either.

Listen the 'Daily Mail' ran month long campaigns against super-casinos being given less regulatory licensing and had it in for FS originally who openly was touting for this business. They were on some kind of moral crusade at the time. Murdoch's Sun went after Abrahamovich when he first took over at Chelsea running story after story about his finances and intentions, partly fed by ther resident Chelsea supporter columnist...There is a very cosy releationship currently with the London based media and the London clubs and they are regularly looking to have a go at the likes of Newcastle...And Newcastle with in their eyes public enemy NO.1 Ashley is atm a prime target.

Some of these articles are so 'dreamed up' and removed from any kind of journalistic rigour it is laughable, but at th same time a kind of spanner in the works...

Bit confused, this, Parky. Stories directly about someone like Abramovich, as you describe, are hardly the same as transfer rumours. If the papers were pillorying Ashley himself, you might have a point. Remember, too, that just because newspapers are based in London doesn't mean that all their employees are Londoners or support London clubs. The journalist who annoys me most is a bloody mackem who works for the Guardian (Barry Glendinning), and it annoys me even more that I know he's trying to annoy me, but even that is just mischief on his part. I'd probably take the piss out of Sunderland if I was in his position.

The idea that Murdoch is sitting in his Manhattan penthouse calling all his newspapers and telling them to run silly transfer rumours about Newcastle because Ashley is a bit of a renegade in City terms is, well, hard to take seriously.

Pompey will bid for him

Tonights chronicle apparantly

OBAFEMI Martins could yet leave St James's Park this summer despite the striker having pledged his future to Newcastle United.

Manager Sam Allardyce who has spent a paltry net £1.7m since taking charge at St James's Park is prepared to let Martins go in order to strengthen his threadbare defence.

And Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp who had been keen on Martins last summer before he made a £10m switch from Inter Milan has already been alerted to the 22-year-old's availability.

There are some very significant reasons why SKY would be bothered about Ashley.

What, then?

It's to do with the Illuminati.  If he tells you, your life could be in peril!
