Guest Roger Kint
Is he not on vacation as well? Surely not the time to deal with contracts and basically your future couple of years. Again its a simple decision really, one that incredibly enough can be made while lying on a beach.
Ash
We only offered him the contract, what, about a week ago? Give him time to mull it over, can't just expect an instant decision. You think a week is an instant decision? Its simple really, does he want to stay or not. Pretty easy really. A week is nothing. Not sure why people expect these things to go through this quickly. It's the same with some of our transfer targets, people saying 'move on' if we haven't signed someone within a couple of weeks of being linked to them. EDIT: Very naive if you believe it's 'pretty easy'.

You usually want to relax and not think "work" on holidays.

How can he decide on something he was offered maybe a week ago, six months ago? He may not have been sure what he wanted to do, decided to see what was put on the table and then go from there. Like Dave said, there's also other factors like waiting to see who we sign too.

He might have had his mind up to leave for most of that 6 months and now the contract offer and our apparent transfer targets/aims for the coming seasons have put the cat amongst the pigeons. Wishful thinking I know, but if that's the case then he certainly wouldn't want to make a snap decision.

And on one hand, what a signal of intent it would look to these players we're looking at if one of our most highly-rated players signed a new long-term deal? TRon
He might just fancy seeing out the last year of his contract then taking his pick of clubs when he walks a way on a free.

The contract is apparently(yeah i know) a very good one so its either good enough to stay or it isnt. Of course there could be other factors but he will have a pretty clear idea of what he wants already before now.

Skirge
I get that he may want to wait and see who we sign, good news is that he has had a contract offer and looks as if its for good money.. main issue is how long he wants to wait before making his mind up, he cannot say with 2 weeks to go that he does want to leave, there MUST be a time limit on the offer or we have no choice but to look to sell. I'd say that's the vast majority of most people's experience.
