Edgar and Huntington - Loan them out?

Right i've just thought of this with the potential signing of Yepes. We can't really loan them out as it stands but if we get another centre back in then that means we will have 7 centre backs on our books. I would personally loan both Edgar and Huntington out if we manage to bring another in and keep Ramage as 5th choice. I don't rate Ramage but i think as 5th choice he will be lucky to get a game all season apart from the odd run out in the cup maybe. I think i would be more comfortable with him in defence than i would with Huntington. I think Huntington needs to go out on loan more than any of the other youngsters. He needs toughened up and played in his natural position as well. Edgar has definitely looked the part in the few games he's played. I think it would do Edgar better to go out on loan until January and play every week, than keep him as 5th choice defender, when he might not even get any time on the pitch for us. Remember this is only if we get another defender in.

Hasn't Huntingdon only got a year left btw? Same with Ramage iirc. Wouldn't be surprised to see neither of them retained.

I've played with some of his international team-mates, and they dont seem to think he's premiership quality.

Nor do i, really. Awesome that he's from Canada, awesome that he scored against man united, but just not good enough.

I dunno about that though really because Edgar has been away with Canada so he wasn't available for all of our friendlys anyway, plus he didn#t need as many minutes as the other defenders when he came back. Ramage is probably ahead of him because of his experience at the minute but Allardyce isn't daft. I'm sure he'll notice Edgar is better soon enough.

One more defender would leave us with 8 "senior" specialist defenders and Geremi and N'Zogbia who can cover either full-back position on top of that.

 

If that happens, aye, let both go out. And if another defender comes in on top, send Ramage off somewhere as well.

I would pick Ramage ahead of him at the minute just for the fact that he gets stuck in. Huntington looks scared.

I haven't seen enough of Edgar to comment but Huntington really needs to go out on loan IMO if he's ever going to make it. He just doesn't look confident enough on the big stage, but that can be changed if he's playing every week in the Championship for example. I don't think he looks all that much to be honest, but a lot of that could have been down to confidence issues and playing out of position.
