Not that old guff again. Keegan Transfers Feb 92 - Dec 96 Expenditure : £59,955,000 Income: £21,510,000 Diff: -£16,935,000 Jan 2008 - Sept 08 Expenditure: £24,800,000 Income: £17,150,000 Diff: -£7,650,000 TOTAL Expenditure: £84,755,000 TOTAL Income: £38,660,000 TOTAl Difference: £46,095,000 I looked at this just the other day, until I think his last two seasons of his first time here he was pretty much breaking even was he not ? It was only the dealings with the likes of Tino, Shearer and Ferdinand which pushed this up towards -16m. The club was always in Europe and bringing in more than enough money to cover these losses. As for the second period it is over such a short period it's pretty difficult to judge what his purchases and sales would be and how this would effect results. The club did need a full overhaul after Fat Sam remember.

Looking back this makes depressing reading http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,40533.0.html

I do agree with this, however this will be more down to UEFA than anything else by changing the rules on entry to Europe.

I'd met and worked with the man, directly in some cases and knew how his business mind worked. I couldn't see that changing with him taking over the club. I hated freddy as much as the next man but as has been said before he would get the cash and spend it when we needed it. He often went to far like he did with Owen and using all the sponsorship cash to pay for him. We're kinda looking for someone in the middle really. Someone who will run with what Ashley has now started but is happy to spread payments on players so we can invest in quality players to improve the team who are known quality when we buy them.

I have no doubts the club are doing well getting decent young players in on the cheap and well done to our scouting network for that cause nothing is changing in the youth setup to show that it's our setup suppplying these talented players it appears to come from the scouts. As for the long term deals great we are signing people on long term contracts. The problem is we are now a selling club and this is the reason for the long contracts. Long contracts mean bigger transfer deals. I have never liked Ashley and didn't ever want him to run the club even when he was getting on with the fans you can check my previous comments for that. He is running it how I imagined which is as a selling club trying to progress each year but in the long run wanting to make the business man at the top cash. He will be happy for this club to break even each year as it means he's not having to inject cash but welcome to the Ellis Villa model cause that's how it will be.

I'd say the wage structure as at least as much due to the rank financial position the club was in when Ashley bought it. Which he kindly topped up a bit with some crazy wages for ageing players.

It's very easy too see the difference? Before, the talent development was non existing. Every reinforcement had to be bought. We didn't produce one single player. Now the club is abound with talent, and we have done some seriously good bargains. Tiote, Gosling and HBA are all proof of the new policy. And look at the players we developed or are developing: Ranger, Vukic, Ferguson and Carroll. After Blackpool we have the highest concentration of british players in our team. This is exactly what Arsenal has been doing for years:scout Europe, finding cheap players and turning them into stars. And MA has previously stated that he had to deal some players to balance the books. But the huge sum we got for Carroll probably saved us from selling more players than him. Now we're able to keep all our assets, as long as they want to stay. Jumping the gun a little with those examples. Gosling has barely kicked a ball in anger, and HBA hasn't done much more. Of the youngsters, I'm sure Carroll was here before MA, and the other three are nothing more than kids with potential- at this stage. Oh come on, just to prove your point, you're actually saying that HBA is not a bargain! Blame De Jong. Second if it wasn't for the focus on talents, it's likely that Carroll never would have gotten a chance, because the club had not the competence to spot his potential. Give over, relegation and the removal of so called "top players" from our wage bill got Carroll his chance nothing else.

Makes interesting reading as well http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/archives/6016

The loan, the last time it was reported, was about £138 million. It has been interest free to date, and it is up to Ashley what he wants to do about getting it back. The larger number that sometimes gets quoted includes what he paid for the club and that would be another £138 million or thereabouts, making his total investment stand at about £276 million. Sorry I deleted the post decided I shouldn't get involved however the number I quoted was from the Chronicle so could include that I guess.
-
Has anyone got a link to the last set of results please ? I know it was a while ago now, search just brings up chronicle story and 2006 results.
-
I may have read to quickly but he only compares the two, doesnt mention turning down the chance to move there just says Newcastle is great.
-
People praising MA over KK or even sticking up for MA over KK, you lot are crazy.
-
I guess, but least you have proof with recorded delivery, dropping it in a basket gives you noubt.
-
Fair enough, wasn't just meaning you more then hundreds standing in a queue lol but guess they could all have problems so yes obvious
-
Maybe and obvious answer but why don't people just post them ?

I agree with Cajun cause I didn't have a good word to say about him till this season. Don't agree with the hitting 31 nonsense. It's the usual stuff peddled and often by managers as well that players turn s*** at 30. Tell Alex Ferguson that.
-
I think the deal also helps the club show young talented players that if they sign for Newcastle on low wages to see how try do in the PL then if they do well we will improve there contracts. Seems win win
-
how can you be so certain that the money we got for AC is all going to be spent on new players? yes they have said it will be going back into the club and not ashleys pocket. but they have not said in what way. it could be used to page wages, clear debt any number of things. i cannot see us spending 35million on new players in the summer. and the new contract for CT i'd imagine is simply a way to tie him to the club and automatically up the asking price from any potential buyers. I don't think most think ALL the money will be spent just bringing in players. The club has said books have to balance but this deal won't have had to touch the £35m as the wages of the two players will be enough to cover tiotes new wages. So we still have £35m to spend on new wages and transfers. Remember wage bill may go down again in the summer if short term strikers and midfielders go and other players like Barton take wage cuts.
-
Why would it ? Tiote was being paid before probably around 20k and Carrolls wage are gone probably 30k from his xmas deal though could be more so that basically covers his new wages without having to take a single penny from the £35m
-
Ah yes I forgot about that move, sorry just couldn't remember the other move that was all.
-
Bigger loss than Carroll if he goes.

That will be considered outside of normal turnover. nessy's right again, doesn't count nor does work on youth facilities, not sure on training ground but assume thats covered too So basically money men will need to expand facilities to increase turnover. Can they buy businesses and add them to turnover? No because it will only include the accounts of the football club itself. let's not forget only counts for clubs in Europe so anyone wanting to get to that position can still do what they want as long as they sort themselves out before playing in Europe.
