  1. I kinda agree with this but at the same time to push on to the next level it's a must to spend big cash on the best players, you can't break the top 4 without doing it. I agree, but still the price has to be 'reasonable'. Which top players you think are available at reasonable price? Henderson? Downing? Young? N'Zogbia is excluded because all the figures involved are just speculations. If Phil Jones and Ashley Young play help Man U keep the PL for another season and help push on in the CL I'm sure they'll be worth every penny of the money they have paid for them. Both yet to hit their prime but have talent to make it top notch in the next 2 years. Liverpool is a different story I'm not sure what they are doing other than spending top dollar on young players who might come good before the new rules come in to place. Maybe that's Ashleys plan all along. Hold on to cash till the new rules come in then only clubs breaking even with pots of cash can spend to progress. Nahh

  3. But the majority of the players we appeared to spend big on and were flops were pretty unknown on the international scene or just didn't appear to anyone to be worth the big cash probably apart from one which was Michael Owen.
  4. Seen this in so many places, what's the problem with trying to spend and getting good players like Ferdinand, Shearer, Tino, Bellamy, Robert, Woodgate, Coloccini ? If Carr can find good players from cheap players just think what he could get spending a few quid. I know we also spend decent wedge on other players that summer, But iirc the Cole sale allowed us to bring in Gillespie and Ferdinand for zero net spend. Does that make the sale of Cole unambitious? To be fair at the time it seemed that way yes lol but we also paid for the most expensive defender at the time Warren Barton, David Ginola and Shaka hislop at the same time as we bought Les Ferdinand.
  5. And also don't forget Ashley was happy to top up those huge wages and bad buys when he first started under Fat Sam

  7. Apparently, seemed to pass me by though lol
  8. Moving into space should be basic for any footballer who is looking to receive the ball. Ok for the cheap seats. Its Shola we are talking about ffs what you expect to be done is irrelevant if playing alongside him you should really play to what he will do rather than what you know he wont. Like questioning his ability to stay onside, we all know it but it wont f***ing change. I wasn't trying to start an argument more prove the problem is not jonas. You've finally more or less agreed
  9. At the end of last season we didn't have players in the box creating space which isn't the fault of Jonas. It doesn't matter how good a passer you are, if players aren't in space then you're unlikely to find them with the ball. In that situation you have two options, hit the ball into space, or keep a hold of it and lose possession. So you think as its Shola in the box who isnt going to make a run you say options 1 and 2 are kick it into empty space or keep it and lose it? Ahead of trying to find him and seeing if he can do something or the ball may drop to someone else? Fair enough. Guess we agree to disagree then. Why is Shola being told not to attack those positions ? I know some see him as a lost cause but that's just crazy. The ball was also being played to Nolan in and around the box to try and feet the ball to the feet of Shola but can't just follow one route the whole game. Plus putting the ball into a danger area worries a defender who can make a mistake of putting the ball into his own net that's why the ball should always try to be put there surely ?
  10. I agree, think attacking wise we'll be pretty damn good. Still worried about just having Ba upfront though.
  11. Agreed, I remember commenting on that after some of the games. The crosses into the box were wasted as we had nobody getting on the end of them. All a winger can do is get the delivery into danger areas, it's up to others to get on the end of them. While i agree in general it really depends on the circumstances. If he fires in a cross into the danger area its hardly a strikers fault if they cant physically reach that area in time. Theres also the silly notion that a winger could aim for where a striker is once in a while too, that would be a good cross finding a man rather than an area where a player may or may not be able to get to. Obviously when we are dealing with Shola/Loven etc i would prefer the winger to look for them as opposed to assuming they will make a run for you(lets face it he is wasting a cross into a good area in their case) Not when they're not even in the box, which is usually the case. Are we now suggesting that Jonas is so quick he is able to outrun the team on a break to be there before the strikers ? Otherwise I'm confused as to why our strikers aren't able to get into the box when we're attacking ? Surely this stuff is worked on in training
  12. Who's is it then ? He holds the ball up cause theres nobody there he gets wrong for not drilling it in, he puts them in and it's his fault because our strikers movement is so piss poor that he's not in the danger area. He puts alot of good balls into the box, they just aren't all the traditional getting right to the line and putting a high ball into the box. He's a cultured winger not what maybe alot of people are used to. I'd enjoy to see him in the same team as Ben Arfa more I think they would link up very well.

    Season Tickets

They've ballsed yours up, you should have been charged £508 unless you didn't choose direct debit.
  14. He's going to end up on their crap wage in the second year of his contract anyway so it would seem the sensible thing for him to do really rather than rob £25k a week from us for a year.
  15. It appears he has alot more contact inside the club that most of the press just from some of his recent news articles and stories which appears to happen.
  16. Wasn't it said that it won't move from Saturday due to European football ?
  17. That's what woodgate turned down at Spurs I believe.
  18. He did then turned it back again
  19. The same Toontastic1892 who said that a Clichy/Enrique swap deal is on the cards Yes just to add to that, that he is not me
  20. If jonas is stopping surely this signing means we won't be signing N'Zogbia? Need cover at right back, striker and by the looks a replacement for Enrique as well as the guy from Swansea then we might actually have some depth.
  21. I'm happy now hearing about the contract
  22. Don't agree, problems with medical I hope mean he's on some sort of deal where wages stop if the leg puts a stop to him playing. Don't fancy any Owen style player.
