I can't see this team scoring with Smith and Barton playing - we need Zog LW, martins up front to take some pressure off the defence and actually look like scoring
-
he doesn't score goals, he doesn't make goals and he drops deeper and deeper leaving Owen on his own sure he works hard but he achieves zero - he's also slowing down badly Ameobi would be a btter bet TBH
-
absolutely correct.....................

be careful of what you wish for..................
-
a right bunch of limp wristed girls here.................... lets think of an ALL TIME Dirty 11 It would be easy just to say "Leeds any time" But then we'd miss Jimmie Scoular, the keeper that did for Clough, the nasty little shit who played for Saints on the wing, Dennis Wise, Vinnie Jones ................ th eliust is long
-
Oner day you lads will get a team without Given and you will finally realise just how bloody stupid you've been..............................
-
well their income is £ 7.5 million a year - I guess they'd risk a couple of years of that to defend their position so we'd be in for legal costs up to around £ 10- £15 million if we lost............. PM me for where to send your cash.................

I've been busy TBH making sure the countries energy needs are met (and have you read my thoughts on oil price ElfMeister?)

me mam was from Shielfield and thats what her mother used to say whenever they saw groups of yokels from Shields (N or S) wandering the City in groups

As dave says unless and until someone takes the case right through the courts (or the law is changed) then those with the biggest pockets can frighten the rest of us Didn't the racecourses try it on with the Sporting life etc a few years ago - but they just stopped publishing those races, the bookies were in uproar and a deal was quickly done

I have no doubt that Mr Wengers amazing French fitness regime will see them through when does the Tour de France start by the way?
-
Sitting high up on the halfway line at Villa I was struck by the distribution of players at a goal kick (either side) ALL the outfield players where in a little box covering about a quarter of the width of the pitch and about an eigth of its length - looked like they were waiting under the high ball at a rugby kick-off - or like a bunch of 5 year olds all following the ball What happens of course is a prolonged bout of head tennis and there is no-one wide or deep to lay the ball to.... very very odd............................................. :idiot2:
-
come on lads - the Mods don't like it anymore than teh rest of us but they are the ones who will be sued so they HAVE to be careful so lay off them Anyway any decent fan knows the list of by heart surely?
-
I was hiding in the Trinity Road Stand with a few others and the Villa fans were very complimentary about the Faithfull - "always a sellout with them lads", "look at all them shirts", "Godknows what keeps them going"

Intersting article in today's Times on how the top 4 are buying up all the talent from the rest and just shoving it in the reserves which is widening the gap even more as they are taking th eone or two class palyers from the rest and leaving them struggling Best example is Sidwell - star and the main engine at Reading last season , can't get a start for Chelski - Chelski don't care but Reading are buggered................... Imagine us without Taylor, Millner & the Zog..................
-
On saturday we lacked any cohesive ideas in mid field until Emre came on - Barton is just a thug, Butt is short of pace
-
Better choice of Jobs. Hardly rocket science like. same with the Zog then..............
-
There was also that old git "Mr Magpie" - dressed up in a black and white tailcoat and would wander the touchline exorting the fans - he always started in the cheap end and finished up disapearing into the Toffs in the Paddock..............
-
It was his ability to hit you smack on half way up the Terrace that always impressed me - and he always caught the tanners as well
-
aye but Pele only had three World Cup Winners Medals mind............... real loser eh?

I only go back to the 70s, but 90% of todays players appear to have SO little genuine football ability, they would be unlikely to get into reserve teams from those days. There is this "automatic" assumption made by many people (mainly the young-uns who have 'nowt' to compare it to!) that MODERN IS BETTER / NOW IS BETTER. Whereas the reverse is usually true!! Todays players are "fitter" / "eat better" / "drink less" / "run a bit faster" . . but better?? - FAR from it! Why is it then any sport that has records or performance stats the best are still performing now. explain that Footballers in the 70's......who Johan one turn Cruyff Franz the statue Beckembaur Bobby long shot Charlton I'll take Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Zidane any day Given a straight choice between Pele or Ronaldo its Ronaldo every time, ask Ferguson to choose might be interesting Name me a better striker than Henry or Drogba or Kaka This diggin up the past ok for a bit of debate at the bar when the conversation dries up, everyone does it Things move on we just got to accept it Gert Muller Brian Howard Cluff Wor Jackie and to suggestthat Ronaldo is better than Pele shows that you've never watched a single game of football ............ mackems.gif mackems.gif mackems.gif

aahhhh but it has everything - death of young stars, heart strings, meeja people killed AND it happened in Jormany!!! best of all they don't have to pay anyone or do any research - they just recycle teh stuff from the 1 year, 2 year 5 year..... aniversary editions Sometimes I feel like joining the Leeds chorus "not enough ice on the runway............."
-
and therefore, given the greed of the PL, almost certain to be true and to happen
-
you have to face it - the bright lights of London are a major attraction that we can't equal - we're better than Derby or Wigan or Brum but.................... and before anyone has a heart attack just ask yourself why there are so many Geordies in Landahn
-
Given is the best keeper we've ever had fullstop he;s one of the 3 players (+ taylor & the Zog) we could actually sell th eproblem is and always has been the non existent defence and the crap mid field in front of him to blame the keeper when you play the people we have (Bramble, Hughes....) in front of him is just stupid
