Ritchie has shed loads of experience, you’re right. But he’s also experienced in being a bit shite. What role are we expecting him to perform? -

We were never getting him. Not a chance. You may as well say we should have signed Messi 3 years ago. -
Terminate him imo
-
HTT levels of commitment to this. Is he mexican enough though?
-
He's Salah's replacement at Liverpool. Nailed on. Liverpool will make a profit on it too.
-
And maybe he will. We just don't know. But it's a bit different to this: "I hope to god we're not paying him a penny during this period"
-
They should terminate him, immediately

I think you're slightly missing the bigger picture, but of course I can understand how some people have a differing opinion on this. I guess as I'm getting older I start to care more about people's wellbeing, as well as taking into account the long term investment we've made as a club. The lad has made a massive mistake, hopefully he'll be able to get help for his addiction and turn things around. I certainly don't think we as a club have a duty to make him suffer any more than he already is. I'm sure a lot of people would love to sit back and get 10 months free pay whilst not being able to work, but I'm not certain peak footballers have that same mindset. He's got a lot of rebuilding to do now, both for club and country. He'll hardly be sat back rubbing his hands together purely because he's still getting paid. On an aside, footballers are massively different to the majority of other occupations in many aspects of life. You must be able to see that, right?
