£15m for a decent Championship striker who has been out injured more than he's played in the last two seasons. £7m for a one season loan for a decent PL defender. Yet Ashley thinks we can compete on a shoestring budget. Must admit I'm happy with our business so far and to be fair I'm pleased we aren't just chucking our money away but we need to move a lot quicker How do you know we're not just chucking money away? We've signed 2 players, one of whom has never played in this league. You're happy with our business so far? What?

Love signing players from Bordeaux. Ace.

Nail your colours to the mast - where will we finish?

It's not "blowing our stack". It's spending the TV money on much needed players. It's not like he's having to spend his own money.

Another charlton and Ireland keeper. That'll work.

Aye you're right. The fact I can't even figure out who it was in what match is quite worrying U21's Euros surely?

Keep the dream alive.

He wants first team football too, which Man City won't offer.

Please.... Weighing up must be the continental version of monitoring £500k should do.

We're going into this season, and will probably finish it, with Jack Colback playing a large number of games for us.

This is by no means a dig at you, I'm honestly using your post as an example, but has anyone come up with a date where we are actually allowed to fear the worst? Based on the last 10 years, I'm there now. The date is dependent on where you sit on the 'happy clapper - manic depressive' fan spectrum. Manic depressive works for me

Financially we were on a level playing field though. Relegation and not being part of the first season's big TV money has set us back hugely. Don't care if we did make a profit in the transfer window last year it's still nowhere near what we'd have gained had we stayed up. If we'd stayed up I've no doubt we'd be for these £18-25m bracket players now and pushing top 8. We should still be paying the extra few million here and there to wrap up the likes of Murphy but it's no surprise the likes of Leicester and the rest who've been on the Sky gravy train for that season are outspending us. You're only talking about players in this country though. Buying a Sigurdsson from Europe isn't going to cost us £50m. It's a great excuse for Ashley, and a great excuse for those fans who have had their expectations downplayed, but there's far more to it than an over-inflated market.

Which is a good thing, as he's a bit shit.

I'm looking forward to this place on transfer deadline day....

Lukaku mentioned several times when he was younger that Drogba was his idol and who he wanted to be like though. And that's ok. But he actually isn't much like Drogba beyond physical attributes. I think that was the original point?

RIP soldier. Even though I knew this was coming it's still hugely upsetting. Thoughts go out to his family.

Potentially a terrible little signing that. Wonder when we'll be linked to some exciting players. What are you basing that on? Holtby for that price would be an excellent signing for us. I agree, when did we become one of the top 6 again ? He's the type of signing that could flourish under Rafa, we'll need to make a few of these with the overall budget we are probably working with. He's rubbish. Another midfielder who does nothing but fools fans by running around a lot and showing passion. Our fans will lap it up though.
-
I'd rather we just put a mirror in the team than sign him.
-
Isn't Ojo the shit one?
-
Depends on your definition of "exciting"? Premiership quality players. Not Jacob Murphys. Whats up with Murphy? He did as good as some of our best last season with his contribution for Norwich. He's a "hope". We need a proven player or 6. I'd like to sign Murphy too though.

Just makes our life more difficult doesn't it. We haven't get anyone worth selling for good money, and our owner won't fancy bidding the high amounts we have to.
-
im not putting his name out you fucking spuds That's me convinced.
-
I heard Rafa can only sign players if colback leaves for over £70m

Operations manager? What section? There are quite a few different ones.
