Jonas Gutierrez signed from Mallorca on 5 year deal
Shearergol replied to magorific's topic in Football
HAHAHAHHA Good work by the club, saw a few mallorca games on the tellybox and he looks decent. Good work by wise et al. Also I think its pronounced Guti-er-ez kinda like its spelt... By all accounts he's going to be known as Jonas, I think that is whats on his shirt. Yeah, but in the Premiership they have to have their full surname. Remember when Hasslebaink first arrived and he had "Jimmy" on his shirt for the first game? Dragutinovic wears simply "Drago" on his shirt. I'd imagine over here he'll have "Gutierrez" on his top. Jordi? Nani? Juninho? None of those are full surnames... -
Again, it's nothing to do with the player himself - I know nowt about him and won't disguise that. I'm just glad we have proved we can do our thing without making a song and dance about it, as you say. Hopefully he'll be a good buy. So what's to admit being wrong about? Has anyone claimed that it's impossible to sign players on the quiet, and that we wouldn't?

You know full well this thread will get bumped if he turns out to be rubbish. What point are you trying to make? That the club have signed a player most of you haven't heard of, so people should change their minds on whether the board are doing a good job or not? You just looking for an argument with NE5? The point's not whether he's any good or not, nor is it anything to do with NE5. I just wanted to let off some steam (Bennett) at the mongs who've been whinging like little girls since the season ended that we weren't doing anything - purely because there wasn't much in the papers. We ARE doing things behind the scenes, we CAN sign players without the media picking up on it. Have some faith. Let off steam? Chill dude!

Would rather keep Milner tbh, we need the depth more than the money imo and Milner's a good, versatile option for a squad player. You'd rather have Milner than £9m?? -

Very good player, and hopefully means we can sell Milner for that £9m now. As others have said, it's actually nice to find out about a transfer when it's happened, rather than a month beforehand in the press. -
So Clough and Dunn were/are both shit? Jesus wept.
-
Should probably cash in on him now anyway. Cash is the least of their thoughts tbh
-
More to the point, where does Essien fit in? It's the same at Man United where they have Hargreaves, Carrick, Fletcher, Scholes etc. Chelsea are building a squad for an assault on all 4 competitions. Letting Lampard leave purely because they've brought one player in just doesn't make sense. Makelele will be going I think, so can they really afford to sell him? What do you envisage the midfield 3 being like (assuming no more transfers and that Scolari will stick with 4-3-3)? I'd have thought: -----------Essien------------ ---Ballack----------Deco---- I think they'll rotate Lampard, Ballack and Deco tbh
-
Dyer wasn't/isn't shit. We were a much better side when he was in it.
-
Amazingly, there have actually been quote from him in the press (unlike most stories!). He's basically saying that if Arsenal can make enough money on him he'd like to try playing in another league, but if the offer isn't good enough for Arsenal he's staying put.

Fat, over-rated 20 goals a season midfielder don't you know! Scolari doesn't want Lampard to leave, so I'm not convinced he will. Not down to Scolari, all Lampard has to do is invoke the clause. Maybe Scolari offering him the £150k pw he wants might change his mind, Scolari telling Lampard he doesn't want him to leave won't make a jot of difference. Disagree. Lampard himself wants to stay at Chelsea all of his career, but he wasn't happy with what happened to Mourinho. He wants stability now, and their manager telling him that he wants him to stay will play a huge part on Lampard's decision. Chelsea don't have to sell Lampard. If Chelsea don't want to sell Lampard, they won't. Simple as.

Depends which station you're coming from. Hessle station is a 5 minute walk from the bridge.

Martins has to put a transfer request in first, which means he's not entitled to his pay off if we sell him. Arsenal enquire, so we say £15m. They can't buy him for £13m because Martins hasn't asked to go. A lot of this comes from the Adebayor story, but speaking to Arsenal fans this weekend there's no way he's leaving, so it's a none starter anyway.

So you say you watched him but at the same time can't remember him being on the pitch!? Sounds to me like a bad thing in regard to your mental health. I watched the matches and can't remember him. I was at the bloody Wembley game too! He's the guy who scored mate Yeah, I realise that. I'm just kinda making the point that I didn't at any time during the game think he was a player of any note. Even when he scored. Probably more down to you then, tbh. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=49724.250 There's the match thread. Can't see his name mentioned at all, even when he scored. Obviously everyone rated him though.

The words of a club planning on not buying anyone.

I'd love to see the figures backing that up. van Nistelrooy (₤19m), Veron (₤28m), Ferdinand (₤30m) and Rooney (₤27m) Carrick (₤18.6m), Hargreaves (₤16m), Nani (₤14m), Anderson (₤18m), and Kuszczak (₤4m) 9 transfers which already make the claim bollocks. Ronaldo 12m, Tevez?, Vidic 8m, Evra 7mil Yep, keeps going. Dwight Yorke, £12.6m Andy Cole, £7m Jaap Stam, £10.75m Roy Keane, £3.75m (a lot at the time) Gary Pallister, £2.3m (see above) The list goes on and on. The difference is Man United generate a lot of their transfer money (cough *munich* cough) and Chelsea had the investment. Still, the claim that Chelsea have outspent them in history is utter shit.

For the first 2 people I mean

Told you before, get yourself in the members club. For those coming on the bus, I should be able to obtain two tickets a game if anybody wants them. This deal gets better. So you're going to put a package together for bus travel AND ticket?

Agent: 'Arda Turan will be playing in Italy this coming season'

He'd flourish at Newcastle though. History proves it.
