  1. 27 have showed an initial interest, we should look to get a date sorted as soon as possible so I can book the pitch. Do people still favour the weekend of the Fulham home game? A few people have expressed concern that the game will fall during their Uni exam period.
  2. Not surprising, Given told him to fuck off during the first half.
  3. Is 3G the new type of plastic pitch? If so definitely prefer that over grass. Yeah, you can wear boots on it. The stuff at Coach Lane must be a few years old now. I started out wearing my boots which have normal studs and I had to change back to my 5 a side trainers but with the 3G pitch at City's Academy in Manchester I can wear them no problem but blades / mouldies are fine.
  4. I think 3G would be best, there is at least 2 other 3G pitches in the area if we can't get the one at Coach Lane.
  5. Might be better to do it when we have a home game as people like yourself and others can come up for both as you've said but with it being the last home game of the season I would have thought a lot of people will be going on very heavy drinking sessions after the Fulham game.

  7. Details Meet 3.45pm in the car park at Coach Lane (pinned "B" on the map, postcode is NE7 7XA), to do introductions and pay £5 each to The Gambling Gorilla (Neil): http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/4160/mapsxx.jpg We'll try and have about 15 minutes for a warm-up and aim to get kicked off by 4.15pm. Usual 45 minutes each way with the half-time length being determined by how exhausted everyone is. There are plans afoot for a few beers after the game, too, and I'm sure this will be sorted out when we're all there together. If you're playing for the first time then please bring both a blue and a red top in case some people need to switch in order to balance the teams, but if you can only manage one or the other then don't worry as hopefully some of the other lads can bring a spare shirt of either colour with them for you to borrow if necessary. Also, anyone who has some good footballs that we could use for the match then get them along too! I think we were pretty well set last time, but the more the better really. It's very quiet around there so shouldn't be any worries about losing them/having them pinched. Drinks - really basic and I know you're not kids, but people will still forget. Try and bring at least 500ml of fluids (preferrably still Lucozade/Powerade, or just water/juice failing that) with you if you're worried about your fitness to stay hydrated. Also, Jaffa Cakes are more than welcome for those needing a quick sugar hit at any stage (). Skittles as well... Shin-pads probably aren't a must-have but sometimes it's better to be safe than sorry. The last game was squeaky clean, but you never know... Finally, bladed boots, moulded boots and trainers are all fine for playing on the 3G surface but I'd recommend that you only slide-tackle if you love carpet burns - or if you're a Blue Team defender making a last-ditch stop on Red Team scum. 8. Let me know if it's on, I'll be jumping on a train to Manchester shortly.
  9. In terms of doing this again I think we should refrain from doing too soon and too often as it would loose its appeal. End of the season would be perfect in my opinion.
  10. Err I was playing on your shoulder thank you, had I just relaxed and controlled that first one its goal for Nixon. I am seriously determined to net in the next one. I know its early but what about game on the weekend of the Derby?... Too soon.
  11. He's hardly played out there, 4 league games I think and has been linked with a loan move to Spurs.
  12. The money is better here unless you are top class.
  13. Aye, thanks for the Jaffa cakes. About 5 mins into the second half I said to Dave I'd had too many!!
  14. If it had worked it would have been an amazing goal. Given the state of my ankle it was a stupid idea to try and bend it with the outside of my foot. Used to be able to hit them like that when I was younger.
  15. Hamstring Injury Treatment The immediate treatment of a Hamstring muscle injury consists of the RICE protocol - rest, ice, compression and elevation (never apply ice directly to the skin). This is aimed at reducing the bleeding and damage within the Hamstring muscle tissue. Resting may be the common sense approach, but it is one that is often ignored by competitive athletes. This is unwise, since it does not take much to turn a grade one Hamstring strain into a grade two, or a grade two Hamstring strain into a grade three. As a general rule, grade one Hamstring strains should be rested from sporting activity for about 3 weeks and grade two injuries for about 4 to 6 weeks. In the case of a complete rupture, the Hamstring muscle will have to be repaired surgically and the rehabilitation afterwards will take about 3 months. Regardless of the severity of the Hamstring injury the treatment in the first few days is the same. The Hamstring should be rested in an elevated position with an Ice Pack applied for twenty minutes every two hours, if practical (never apply ice directly to the skin). A Compression Bandage should be applied to limit bleeding and swelling in the tissues. After the early stages have been spent resting, more active rehabilitation can be started. Gentle resistance exercises and stretching are important as they help to align the scar tissue that forms during the healing process. By aligning the scar tissue along the normal lines of stress the tensile strength of the Hamstring is enhanced. At first gentle resistance is provided by a therapist, but as the muscle gets stronger then Resistance Bands can provide more of a challenge. The sets and repetitions are gradually increased and eventually Core Strengthening can be started. Core Strength and Core Stability exercises can improve muscle function across the trunk and pelvis and this can reduce the risk of Hamstring injury. Core strength exercises on a mat using a Swiss Ball and resistance bands are ideal. Once Core Strength and Hamstring strength are improved, then a return to functional activity is possible. With a grade one Hamstring strain gentle jogging can be initiated between seven and nine days after injury and straight line sprinting is usually started after 3 weeks. Many people find that Warm Pants (Compression Shorts) or a Thigh Support provide reassurance during this active rehabilitation. http://www.physioroom.com/injuries/hip_and_thigh/hamstring_strain_full.php
  16. Not as bad as my back pass from the half way line that went for a corner.
  17. Might have been a close match had the fucking Gorilla turned up!
