  1. Wullie nailed it in his article imo, Pardew probably is capable of more but raising expectations will just create more pressure on him.

It's not that plausible to me, deliberately failing so he won't be expected to do anything in future? Would be truly bizarre that. Was he gutted when we finished fifth and he was manager of the year?

I think more likely he's just not very good, especially when under pressure and especially with players he doesn't really understand.

He basically admitted regretting that high a finish the next season when he was moaning about European football. We started the season well enough to compete for a European place but dropped away massively when we were almost certainly safe.

We also played it a lot more on the ground at the start (and started Ben Arfa) but as the season wore on we got more and more negative, were losing lots of games and shipping in the goals.

  2. Our ambitions should be higher than taking a shit player on loan just in case he turns out good one day. We need 2 good strikers at least, I fear signing 1 decent one and keeping De Jong will be all.

That's the point though isn't it? Our (the clubs) ambition isn't higher. We will be lucky to replace Remy let alone sign another forward who will definitely do well for us. We are currently in a position where the only striker who will definitely be here and played in the correct position next season is Cisse.

I'm not a fan of settling but we really aren't in a position to be choosy considering who is financing the club and the amount of players we need. I would not be remotely surprised if we signed some old, old of contract, was half decent at his peak a few years ago forward and that's our lot. I'd like at least one striker who could possibly improve even if he has been a dud so far, Pardew isn't going to give the likes of Armstrong or Campbell a chance is he?

  3. I'm sure we'll be fine with Cisse and Goufrran (playing as a second full back) next season. Taking a 23 year old who not long ago was rated at around £13m, for a season on loan would be utterly ridiculous.

  4. And make an agreement with the other 19 managers to exclusively use Dutch defenders, while he's at it.

You're right, I forgot the whole Dutch defender = ball travels a lot quicker towards their own goal thing.

  5. Would still take him on loan.

    1) I have said from the half a season isn't enough to judge a player.

    2) We might have a decent manager.

    3) If we don't get a decent manager we will need to sign a few strikers which Ashley clearly won't, unless they are really cheap.

  6. Like who? Everyone who's slagged him off has their own selfish agenda to follow.

I don't disagree with that, everyone who seems to have been negatively involved with Ben Arfa has one or many things already against them that will instantly make them the villain.

I'll say one thing, you couldn't say a bad word about Colo on here 2 months back.

Personally I could and probably did. Ever since the father/San Lorenzo or whatever the fuck they are called thing I've not had nearly the same respect I did before.

Would just be interested to see the reaction if the one person connected to Newcastle who could possibly get away with a bad word against Ben Arfa would be.

I have no problem with HBA, obviously he is quite temperamental but I would have him in our first 11 without question.

  8. Nice to see Wulbert getting some love for his piece. Superb article which smashes the fuck out of the nail, squarely on the head. :)

We may be on the opposite ends of the tolerance scale but I would love it if Wullie was the final nail in Pardew's coffin

  9. 193. Missed a couple I should have got. Chimbonda ffs. When did that happen?

Had an excellent season, then I remember him signing for Tottenham and being absolute shit and on huge money or something like that.

Was Chimbonda the player who had his transfer request tucked into his sock last game of the season?

  10. I would be wary of Laudrup, Swansea basically did a Pardew after he won the cup and doesn't he have a history of falling out with the players? Why was Ki loaned to the Mackems?

Not sold on him at the moment and I'm not in the 'anyone but Pardew' group either, it would be nice to get a genuinely quality manager in rather than someone because they might be a bit better than the last bloke who wasn't good enough.
