http://timesonline.typepad.com/thegame/2008/09/dennis-wise-is.html Matt Hughes - dwarf arse-licking shitbag.

Do you trust Denis Wise to do his best for this club? Who do you think will be the next manager and how on earth will he have any support? The best solution is for Ashley to sell.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/newcastle/article4678988.ece Guys I really think we are going to have to come to terms with the fact Keegan was trying desperately to convince the owner to spend the type of money he didn't want to and was ultimately unsuccesful. He wasn't aware of enough emerging talent, which was the type of squad we wanted to build, and therefore players were brought in for him. He was simply the wrong man to hire. He got caught up in a billionaire taking over as most did, and wanted a ton of big players, but this was never Ashley's plan. There's a blog on there written by Matt Hughes who wrote that calling Wise a visionary and wanking over his management of Leeds. Context.
-
He's the executive director(football) - basically in charge of the entire footballing side of the club - Keegan's boss. Did you see what a worky little shit of a player he was?
-
Another thing that bothers me is that all the twats in the press who've sneered at him every day since he came will first off write articles calling him a bottler and then more saying how they miss "characters" like Keegan. Cunt Samuel I'm talking about you.

I think theres a difference between having a good existing team and being able to that and being a club needing to boost itself. As I've said elsewhere I think the aims of the structure is laudable in the long term but I don't see the harm in having a one-off spree to get us going. I honestly don't think that Ashley would have been against shelling out for a really good player, but those players want to go to Champions League clubs or at least clubs who are in Europe. You can try to compensate by paying huge wages, but that gives you problems as well. Ashley is right and Keegan is wrong on this. Unless you've got Abramovich-style millions, you have to build slowly. I'd raise the issue of numbers then - if Keegan thinks the squad is short then a few reasonably priced players could easily have been bought - see the likes of Malbranqe as an example. I wasn't advocating a Robhino type buy - just more of the type that were bought.

I think most reasonable people think theres a place for teamwork - Scolari when asked about Robhino on Sunday said he didn't have a clue which is fine. Identification is also fine. I think its the idea of players bought unseen or put up for sale without approval that most people see as a step too far.

Is minimal net spend realistic for a club looking to improve? I think we have improved. Don't you? Possibly - we'll see - but at the moment I can see us maybe finishing around tenth. I do think a reasonable splurge (nothing daft) could have made a challenge for 6th possible.

There's a couple of major business problems with this theory: 1 - Its not the manager's money. 2 - The manager doesn't have the time to dedicate to scouting. 3 - Managers get invested in their own selections ... the new guy wants his own players in ... resulting in a clear out & total loss of value. 3 - You have to be able say NO if the player valuation is not right ... consider that our current admin. team may be having discipline in this area which has rarely been a feature of our recent spending. Doesn't that take away responsibility for results from the manager though? A sacked manager will say "never wanted him" whereas a winner could have the recruiter claiming credit.

Isn't wise in charge of Academy affairs, not first team? Supposedly but I've got the impression that at least some of the media stirring about his role in transfers is true.
-
Usual bullshit first used by the Halls - no way would the club fold. What was the point getting £12m for Milner if it wasn't spent? Are we that short of money considering the unspent ST money and the new TV deal? Being a sound steady business in the current football climate is unambitious in my view - the gates will dwindle which will affect that plan anyway - taking for granted the full houses is a major mistake.
-
The setup looks okay in theory and we have signed what look at the moment like decent players. However I'd like to see the long term strategy combined with a possibly one-off splurge to get us up a few places. I'd rather have manageable debt and challenge for top 6 than be "stable" and mid-table. Also those who think it's okay for Ashley to step in just because they don't like Baton and Smith - would they support him if it was Given and Martins? - the principle's the same - the manager should make those decisions.
-
I meant the whole setup including Wise, Vetere and Jiminez.
-
In my view a system where KK says "I want a hard working winger and a top class CB - go away and do your business" which is followed by the team bringing back a shortlist which included those two with a feel for plausability and availability for Kev to make the final choice sounds fine. "Here's your new players Kev" (allegedly) does not - as .com say even if Xisco and Gonzales and the others are good players it doesn't make it right.

Do you honestly think people are going to rally round the current regime? Dream on. Some things are a step too far and seeing Dennis Wise as "the face" of Newcastle United is one of those things for me and a lot of other people. I've been as cynical as anyone about Ashley's motives, but if they pull the rabbit out of the hat and get KK to stay, I'll be bloody delighted with them for doing so. My point anyway was that why single out Wise in all this ? It's the whole recruitment team that f***ed up iyam. It's pretty clear that KK wasn't happy with the hand dealt to him but that wasn't the sole fault of Dennis Wise. Undoubtedly theres a familiarity breeds contempt angle on picking on Wise and I have no problem condemning the whole setup - it mght work on the continent but I don't think it works in the UK, especially in Newcastle, and extra especially with KK as manager.

Yes - lets ignore the odious little shit who has failed miserably to strengthen the squad adequately and has undermined the manager since he was appointed.
-
This shouldn't even have to be pointed out. Are people really this stupid? Of course you could point out the structure/appointments are down to him though.
-
You can only take the "support the team 100%" so far - of course people will back players but I think after 8 years or whatever of watching him play exactly like he did today I have the right to question the blokes inclusion. On confidence in the past when he should have been "feeling loved" he wad just as bad imo.
-
I think him going to the games fully backs his claim if thats how to put it that he's here to enjoy it. If he was a faceless corporate entity like Sunderland's owners then the "looking for a profit" label would fit a lot more. Of course it could all be a con trick but I don't think so. People have to ask themselves if they were somehow in his position would they play the suit/directors box game or do what he does? My answer would be I'd probably play the good host at home games and enjoy away games with the fans. (Good point on Abramovitch above)
-
Both - but there seems to be a law against having two decent centre halfs at Newcastle at the same time.
-
Couple of old school ones to get me going - will add more later: Lou Macari - cheating manc cunt. Frank Worthington - was wanky as the song. Kenny Burns - twat.
-
You always give me hope Wullie because I think you bear as many nasty little grudges as I do - one thing I don't like about this place is there are too many nice football fans who no doubt "admire" Solskjaer - all I see is nasty little shit who got away with murder twice against us.
