  1. Maybe the word impression isnt right but the clubs ground, often gets referred to when discussing the team, match report etc. They dont say, now lets go over to see how Newcastle Utd, sponsored by Northern Rock, are getting on against Cardiff, sponsored by Asobet (or whatever it is). Its all superficial I know but I just wouldnt seem right hearing SJP referred to as something else. Yep - there is a big difference between a visual logo which quite frankly never gets mentioned no matter who/what it is and the name of the ground which is mentioned all the time.
  2. I know Man U and Liverpool get millions but do you really think their "fans" around the world notice the sponsors in a way that affects how they feel about the club?
  3. Also on your option A I would also add that because I find the sight of adults wearing strips ridiculous, I don't consider a logo to be any kind of burden.
  4. I know the arguments and I consider myself a rational person but as I said I just feel instinctively uneasy about the concept. I can't explain why it's different to the shirt or the hoardings but I suppose I would say the closest thing is the name of the club itself. I know everyone would still call it SJP but every time some Sky idiot refers to it as the "Adidas Arena" it will just jar too much.
  5. I disagree. As I was growing up only kids ever wore the strip - I had my last one when I was about 14 - the emergence of sponsorship coincided with the mass sale of adult strips so in my view there was no great tradition to be pissed on - the blue star shirt was the first strip that was ever sold to adults (at least in numbers). I recognise the need for money to be raised but I just don't understand why so many people just don't feel how wrong the renaming of the ground is at a massively instinctive level. I fully admit that it provides anew edge to my hatred of Ashley but no matter who it was who had tried this (and even a twat like Shepherd realised this) there does have to be a line somewhere. Of course the ground as it is now is completely unrecognisable from when I first started going such that you could even try and apply the "new ground" argument. What I would say to that is that because the ground retained its name through all of the developments is precisely what strengthened it as a cornerstone of the fabric of the club. I do agree to some extent with Chez that it may be a diversion but once again I think the imbecile has made another of his crass decisions. To give the fans something to rally around might be just the thing which finally makes a difference even if he doesn't go though with it. Again I would say its a kind of a character test. My honest view is that if the concept doesn't strike you as very, very wrong then I don't feel you're the same sort of Newcastle fan as me. I'm not saying those people aren't fans or worse fans than me but definitely different and honestly worthy of less respect.
  6. Like in January when announced his commitment again? Like in May when he heralded Shearer as his only correct decision? The man gets up in the morning and depending what mood he's in makes another crass decision, having any hope or faith in him is absolute lunacy.
  7. Name any manageriial appointment in the meantime who is a better manager than Keegan.
  8. I can't be bothered to do the maths but the idea that accounting for transfer profits from the summer, a huge reduction in the wage bill, probably larger than expected STs/gates and the parachute payment that we still are on course to make a £20m loss which has to be covered is bullshit. The £20m is for me another lie.
  9. But he took this money out of the club? The club was and is being run on a daily basis via the overdraft. Since there was no mention of the clubs debt to him being repaid that money disappeared as far as I'm concerned - to the same black hole as all of the summer transfer money.
  10. Given + N'Zogbia transfers - I think I was the only one on the "how much we will spend" thread to say He'd make a profit - what an unbelieveible concept. It might net out at more like 6 or 7 but the point is the whole window was approached with an intention to make money. Given and N'Zogbia wanting to leave was a convenient smokescreen
  11. It makes absolutely no sense that he'd do that and risk losing more money, if he didn't want to invest to get us promoted he'd had sold the club to Moat. He's had two options all along, he's gone with the other. The same man who took another 10m out of the club in January to ensure relegation when a modest investment would all but have prevented it? The man is an imbecile.
  12. If you think one penny of that non-existent £20m will be spent on players you should be carted away in a strait jacket.
  13. The best we can do is to inform any company that buys the rights that they will be boycoutted.

    Chris Hughton

His "I'd like to thank Mike and Derek" means he can fuck off as far as I'm concerned. He's part of the plague.
  15. Working to-fucking-gether? All the fat cunt cares about is money. When Taylor and others are sold in January the same fucking idiots will defend him again. Get it through your head - the man is systematically destroying the fucking club.

    Jonas Gutierrez

Means nothing to me - I only care about what people do in a Newcastle shirt although I'd say Argentina seem "shit" to me at the moment. Carr was pretty shit but he made a few goals - an anarchic concept for a winger I know but still.

Think Jonas is a very good player who could walk into a lot of sides better than this one and nt look out of place. He's clearly not "great" though. Disagree with the notion that "great players score goals" as posed by NJS. I actually just said "goals". His goal record elsewhere proves it's not a "good player in a shit team" job.

Off the top of my head that means I've seen about 10 all time British legends and 7 or 8 world footballing legends who eclipse all players ever play for Newcastle in the last 25 years. "Great" players score goals. They create goals, they turn matches, they give you hope when all is lost. Guttierez is not a great player. As for good players not joining us that's shit as well - we could easily still sign players like Scott Sellars who was 5 times the player Guttierez will ever be.

Because he runs into blind corners making it easy for them to surround him? because he's the only person in our midfield/team, that can actually hold onto and run wihth the ball. And produce nothing. Ever.

  21. When they drew with us in 96 and gave Man U the title, they celebrated like they'd regained the European cup. Utter, utter scum.
  22. If the unpublished evidence was in any way, shape or form damaging to Keegan, what do you think the chances of Ashley et al releasing it to the press would be? A million, trillion per cent? Virtually nil, I'd say. What could he gain by carrying on the battle? As Isegrim points out above - that response sums up your position for me - absolutely clueless.
  23. If the unpublished evidence was in any way, shape or form damaging to Keegan, what do you think the chances of Ashley et al releasing it to the press would be? A million, trillion per cent? then keegan can publish it. As someone else has said, he has done everything via the LMA which is the correct way - now I remember the first time around when he left he wasn't shy in splurging his story in the tabloids (something which disappointed me) and he may still do that again but I'd be surprised.

  25. As they also pointed out, Kinnear did have "full" duties including transfers - I wonder what his contract said?
