  1. All true. The midfield myth comes from the incorrect view that Dyer, Parker, Duff etc are top class. It comes from the fact that they all could, and probably should, perform to a much higher level. That's where my squad argument with you comes in, Northern Monkey. All these players do have the quality, a high ability, it's case of finding a way for all of them to utilise it. Underneath it all, we don't have a bad squad at all, in my opinion. Obviously we need four or five quality incomings, but we've got the foetus of a decent team here at Newcastle. Not really. Milner and Zog - Young players with potential but that's all. Dyer - Hmm, nobody has worked out his best role even now. He's a defensive liability if he's used as CM and drifts inside too much when he's RM. Parker - Absolute shite. One good season at Charlton and that's all. No reason to believe he'll do anything. Butt - Decent player. Emre - Blows hot and cold. Plays too deep. Disappears for long periods. Duff - I've hopes for him for next season but he's got a lot of improving to do on his performances for us since signing. Solano - If we had a decent RB and good movement up front I'd put him back on the right of midfield and then we have a real quality player there, a player with vision, the creative ability to pick out a pass that we lack so much and the ability to link up with the forward players. All Milner does on the right is try to charge down the flank and chuck over a cross. All well and good but not enough I'm afraid. That isn't excellent by any stretch, only Solano and Butt will guarantee a performance most of the time and they're both cracking on a bit. Overall it looks fairly average if you're being at all realistic about the actual performances this lot have been turning out for quite a while now. When you add in the factor that as a combination these players don't blend well you really run into trouble.
  2. He might, but they do get stuck in their ways and tend to go with what they know and trust. So it's far from certain and a definite gamble. His record isn't that good, imo. As I've said, he's been managing a club with much lower expectations and that makes a difference. Can you tell me who we should appoint? Realisticaly... I just want to know your opinion about this. Joe Harvey. Can you be serious? who needs a manager when the fat pig is already the manager mackems.gif Can you please tell me who is your favourite and who do you think should be the new manager of Newcastle United? And please dont say someone who died years ago. I just want to hear your opinion. I didn't say, "someone who died years ago," I said "Joe Harvey."

  6. Jesus! Of course I do. I was laughing as I was writing the post. You should have realised that was likely to be the case but as you've had the arrogance to pass judgement that I'm stupid the thought would never have crossed your mind. Of course you would never question someone's intelligence would you? What was that about arrogance? When did I make that claim? I seriously doubt such comment is made by me as often as you would like to believe, however I do realise I mentioned "brain cell" today to your mate and as a result you've become upset about it and obsessed with me all day. So how long do you plan to hijack threads and stalk me because of this terrible thing I did? Just give me an idea so I know when I can expect to stop laughing at you. By the way, I now realise you're not a new member after all. I honestly hadn't noticed you until today. I apologise for that. You may now have the last word. I have little interest in clogging up the thread with any more exchanges with you.

  8. Appointing a decent manager is never a step back whether or not they've been at the club before or not.
  9. According to grandfather NE5 and some other mentalists on this board you cant have opinion about Newcastle and the team unless you have been on the stadium watching the team live You can't have as good a view of the game, and any comments you make on the game should be read with that taken into account. is it possible that NUFC06 is really thompers and not really from Bulgaria and watching the game with high powered binoculars ? Actually, probably not, I quite liked the banter with thompers, who is a miss and sometimes had a bit of a clue. I doubt he's thompers, he knew what he was talking about even when people didn't agree with him. Should never have been banned. If he wasnt so stupid he wouldn't have been banned. If people were banned for being stupid where the hell would that leave you, like? Well we certainly wouldn't have to put up with anymore senile shite from you that's for sure! Insert here whatever catchphrase you like as long as it's along the lines of posting some links to this senile shite you mention. Then we can debate it if you like.

  11. Looks distinctly s*** / average to me. I think a line up very similar to that is very likely and realistically about as good as we are going to get. What would yours be then? We can do better than Dyer and Ameobi for a start. Youngs decent but i think we can do better than him as well. I think we will be seeing a team quite different from that lining up next season if we get Allardyce, and it will probably be better as well. Based on the back end of this seaon Dyer and shola have admitedly been very poor, but i'm guessing Big Sam will probably keep them on and will really fire them up. Young is good imo and probably the best we'll get, i'd preffer Richards from Citeh but not too sure they'd sell and if they did it'd probably be to Chelski etc Care to make a line up/formation prediction of your own then? On what i would do or what i think Allardyce would do? First of all what i would do is show all of the s*** the door if possible. I would get rid of Carr, Babayaro, Bernard, Bramble, Moore, Gooch, Dyer, Pattison, O'Brien, Sibierski, Luque, Ameobi. I don't rate Ramage either but i wouldn't be bothered if we keep him as a reserve considering he's probably on a small wage and he'll be happy enough. We've then got players who i would sell under circumstances. If we got our money back or more on Emre and Duff i would let them go as well. I would consider selling Butt if we got around £1.5m for him as well. He's had a good season but he has only got a year left on his contract and he's on good money. Realistically though we will not be able to ship all of them players out in one go so we have to get rid of the biggest earners and the ones we might get money for first of all. I could tell you a team i'd possibly try but it will probably be totally different from Allardyce's because he will probably try and identify some cheap players from abroad who he knows he can get the best out of who we might not have even heard of. I'd definitely look to bring in Ben Haim, maybe Leighton Baines and possibly Sami Hyypia because i think Allardyce could probably get the last few ounces of what he has left in him out of him. We are gonna need a new right back because even though Solano does a more than decent job there he isn't getting any younger and we can't expect him to play 38 games in that position. I cant think of a right back of the top of my head at the minute but i would have every faith in Allardyce identifying one whether it be a big name or a cheap one i'm sure he will find one better than Young. As far as the midfield goes i would definitely keep Milner, Parker (i think he will do well under a good manager but that debates for another thread) and N'Zogbia. I wouldn't have any problem with us keeping Butt, Emre and Duff either but at the same time as i mentioned above i would let them go if we got decent offers. I think we will probably need to spend big on a goalscoring creative midfielder this summer though. If Butt does go i think Allardyce would replace him with one of his typical cheap signings who will come in and do a good job. We'd still have Nobby who can play 2nd fiddle to Milner down the right when needed. I would look to keep Owen and Martins but at the same time i would sell Owen if we got our money back which is unlikely, and i would also consider a stupid bid for Martins. Ameobi would leave in an ideal world with 2 strikers coming in. I'm not so sure if Owen and Martins is gonna work although i'm not writing them of after 2 games like some people. I wouldn't mind signing Nugent but i wouldn't pay over the top for him because he will probably be overpriced. Gudjohnsen would be a top signing if we could get him. Fill in the other gaps with some of Allardyce's cheap bargains who we could get a couple of years out of. Very well put across and quite mind-boggling to think that many of these players you mentioned were part of the £50m spending spree by fuckwit on a squad that had just finished 5th.

  13. mackems.gif Funnier by the minute. You should read your own stuff before aiming that kind of comment toward someone else. BTW Aren't you supposed to be in your 40's? Point of information - I'm 33. Old enough to spot the irony and old enough to have taken my post as it was meant. You really can be a patronising old git sometimes, you know that? What does age have to do with my ability to comprehend one of your turgid incomprehensible rants? Nothing. Patronising! Wot patronising? It's a legitimate comment based on your ridiculous reaction in this thread to what was obviously a joke. Even if you didn't really find it funny, it was obvious it wasn't serious and meant no harm or insult. Yet you've been unable to do anything other than throw your toys out of the pram. Your problem is you can only recognise and take a joke from your "chums".
  14. Looks distinctly s*** / average to me. I think a line up very similar to that is very likely and realistically about as good as we are going to get. What would yours be then? I don't have the foggiest idea who the players may be that any new manager may sign.
  15. We all know Shepherd dont we? We all know what he is capable of and that he prefers British managers instead of foreigners. Last summer despite of all the Hitzfeld campaigns he didnt even tried to bring him although it was the fan's favourite. Its obvious that Allardyce is the board's favourite for the job and like i said it neve crossed Shepherd's mind to bring someone like Lippi here. The man is too stupid to understand that we need foreign world class manager like the top 4 clubs. Follow the best=not Shepherd's moto mackems.gif
  16. We don't know, but there are a few people on here who seem to think they do know.
  17. Looks distinctly shit / average to me.
  18. Hiddink is with Russia and even if he quits there he will end up with Chelsea. We dont have a chance with him On the other hand Lippi is free and yet again HE doesnt even try to bring him here. I know that we dont have a fucking chance but at least HE That why at the end of the day HE can say i tried my best to bring the best manager in the world here but he didnt want to come here.Thats why i appointed someone else. I dont blame Shepherd for trying to bring Allardyce here.I just wish that he could aim higher. He should be aiming at the top.I guess he is too stupid to understand that. ha ha did he tell you this like? for all you know shepherd might aim at the top but cant get them in because they're either at better teams or would never come to us.
  19. Speak for yourself. Keegan did a great job at Newcastle, starting his building of the team from the back, which if he came here and started on the back four most around here would be happy. He did a decent job at Fulham and also at Man City. It's entirely possible his experiences since have improved him as a manager. I'd be happy enough if he was given the job. Me too, but the stuff i've heard from him recently suggests that he's done with management and is perfectly happy doing his Football Schools or whatever they are. Quite agree, I don't think he'll return to management either. Just laughing at these posts that are effectively claiming he'd be shite.

  21. 180 then. Good stuff. I know, how fickle can I get! All he did was put a team mate in hospital! You really are a complete joke HTL, honestly! Who was accusing you of being fickle? I said "good" and that's what I meant.

  23. Why? Because the players haven't performed as they should? You're funny.
  24. Would be better than Roeder, that's for sure.
